Will Prince become more popular with the masses when he's dead?

I know this is kind of a creepy thread, but do you think Prince become more popular with the masses when he's dead? I ask this because, the legends in music tend to become more popular in the afterlife...

I think he will, but that is really sad since the world as a whole is missing out alot with the greatest musician, songwriter, performer of our time...

Just a thought..

Love Chook,

You're absolutley right and it's sad that the most talented man in the history of music is alive and in our midst and no one appreciates it. Instead they'd rather listen to the shallow, empty, souless, and pointless music that is pop music.rolleyes

Prince can be popular with the masses anytime he wants to be..he is a household name. Prince was the savior of Pop music in the 80's...Pop sucked in the 80's also. He was the only musician that actually made pop music that made you think. That is rare today. I don't think he wants to save the Pop scene in the 00' years.

I think that Prince was and still is very popular to this very MINUTE. Sure, 'e ain't commercializing 'is music mainstream anymore (Alicia Keys is doin it 4 'im) but who can't think of 'im when the word purple or rain is said 2gether???
Prince is an icon, legend, trendsetter among a 'ost of other words eye can sit 'ere & write about 'im.
BUT SADLY, people r gonna realize that there was so much more 2 'im (BESIDES the PURPLE RAIN era) when 'e leaves us. My God, the day that 'appens...i hope a freekin astroid 'its earth...eye won't b able 2 live thru it. It'll b like when Marvin Gaye died...when Elvis died...when John Lenin died... sad 2 me of course & probably others.
Les just say IT DAMN SHO won't go UNNOTICED and UNEMOTIONALLY (is that a word? mr.green) received...even 4 those who gave up on 'im when 'e was goin' thru 'is changes.
peace & wildsign

u damn skraight...non fans scoff at the word "prince" and they all got their opinion about him (i'm sure u have heard them all) but when he goes, everybody knows. then expect to hear a lot of 'em claimin to always dig Prince.

but even when he does clock out, imagine how long it will b before everyone has heard all of his material. i think that is what sets him apart from other great musicians who have passed on. they go and then then it's no time before all of their material is out there for everyone to hear. Prince could b droppin new joints for decades after he is gone.

Many years ago a friend of mine played an April Fool's joke on me...she called frantic, telling me to turn on MTV because the news was on and they were saying that Prince died...I of course freaked out...but my reaction really made an impression on me and made me think...made re-evaluate my fanaticism with Prince...I realized I needed to cool off for a bit...and I guess I did for awhile...to this day I have yet to hear/purchase NEW POWER SOUL...lol...but once I found the org my fascination with him started again and I'm very happy with the NPG Music club, TRC, ONA and of course the incredible show at the Kodak theatre earlier this year...

but I digress...

if and when that dreadful day happens and I'm still on this here earth my ass is off to Minneapolis to pay my respects. Until then I think I'll give TRC another spin...

That old friend used to be my girlfriend and I played an even better trick on her...I came out of the goddamn closet...poor thing...she has yet to forgive me...

2 answer the question, yes, I get a feeling he will be more popular after he dies and I think he's saving some stuff 2 release it post-humously.

Let me go back 2 covering my ears now. disbelief
