Sinead was obviously referring to the fiancial problems Prince was having in 1988/early 1989.The 'Lovesexy' Tour had lost alot of money,his own records weren't selling well and his Paisley Park Records label was in disarray.In early 1991,when she made that comment,he had just suffered a huge flop with 'Graffiti Bridge'.Still,it's a bit presumptious of her to insist that her successful recording somehow "saved his fucking ass" from bankruptcy,lol.

i can only speak for myself, but when she came out with that song, and i found out it was one of Prince's songs, i was like " oh yeah... i remember him "...
