"Let's Work" 12" Version How many of you remember the kickass 12" version of "Let's Work"? I remember hearing it alot on the radio in early 1982.It was too funky..."Work it,work it,work it!!"
I'm a little confused about the additional lyrics that Prince added near the end.He sings "I'll work you baby til' you're soft and wet" but then I don't know what else he says.It sounds like he's saying "My dick is all gone before you get it"??? 
Or,is he saying "Hot dick and bubblegum is all you get"?
Please,don't laugh at me,I really don't know what he is saying! Anybody got the correct lyrics? | |

Wrong on both counts it's: "My dick and bubblegum is all you get" Don't feel bad, I didn't realize that's what he was saying until I heard him sing it live. I do...I bought the 12 inch at licorice pizza back in 83 and that cover is the shit--they needed ot make a poster out of that...the band all trashy lookin etc I remember hearing it alot on the radio in early 1982.It was too funky..."Work it,work it,work it!!"
They never played the long version here but that work it break down part is the shit as well as the rubber bass teasing the jeyboards in that one section. The 12 inch is in the top ten of the Prince songs pantheon imho. "Climb in my fur." | |

I was feenin for that song at the time. | |

If you play the track backwards it says: "Love Life, Love Larry Graham, the only 2 drugs you need".
Still Lets Work is one of my favorite Prince songs (especially the 12" version). You can find it floating around on a bootleg for the 12" inch collection. That boot rocks. Its nice having all the 12" remixes and extended mixes on one 4CD set. Furthermore its too bad that we will never hear Prince get down and dirty and funky anymore. Lets Work is an example of a type of track that we wont be hearing again. Plus the track just KICKED SERIOUS PURPL ASS when he did it live. SNiff Sniff I miss the old sane introverted Prince.
