Anyone know anything about 'She's always in my hair'? When was it recorded?
Who made it(prince solo or prince & The rev)and did the FUNKY bass and synth? The extended version is just the right length; why wasn't this on an album?

The song wasn't on any album at all, neither the long nor the shorter version. It was released as the b-side of the Raspberry Beret single. I can look up more later, but I'm pretty sure it's a Prince-solo recording.

Recorded in January 1984. Don't know why Prince didn't put it on Around The World In A Day, it would have fit in perfectly, but it made a great single/12inch with Raspberry Beret. Don't know for sure, but I expect it was Prince doing everthing, not read or heard anything otherwise.

It alwas sounded very Purple Rain-era to me. I suspect it was recorded around the time of the other Purple Rain tracks, but didn't make it into that album.
Can anybody with any of the Uptown mags/books throw in their $.02? PS, it is one of my favorite all-time songs, even if it does sound very 80's. > metalorange said: Recorded in January 1984. Don't know

From what i heard, it was written after everything else that made it onto Around the world in a day....he knew it was hot so he added it to the B side of Beret.
It was all Prince on that track. "I wasn't invited to shake hands with Hitler, but I wasn't invited to the White House to shake hands with the President, either" ~ Jesse Owens

Are you trying to prove that Prince stole the song and that most of it was played by other musicians ? I LOVE the whole song....especially those few seconds in the beginning are KILLER...you know, that LM1 sound which can also be heard during the first few seconds of Sex Shooter...I love that kind of drumcomputer programming...Prince is a genius on the LM1..a true wizard. Do you have the Days Of Wild book by the Uptown staff ? It comes with a CD-ROM and the CD-Rom contains handwritten lyrics to that song....written on some hotel paper with slightly different lyrics. There´s also a tour rider for the Purple Rain tour...Prince sure liked Doritos back then ! " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

It was all Prince on that track. No, it was recorded January 1984. Purple Rain came out June 1984 - it could have made it onto that album! Around the World came out in 1985, several of the tracks for that album had been recorded before the Purple Rain film and album came out, shows how far in advance Prince thinks out his projects.

From what I heard, the reason the track got relegated to b-side material was
because Prince ended up using the synth hook for Sex Shooter. Otherwise it could well have ended up on an album.

The song was written for Jill Jones. She always had kept Prince in line in his early days. "The little 1 will escort u 2 the places within ur mind"

Not 'for' Jill Jones, it was written 'about' Jill Jones.

I think someone else wrote that song,
can someone throw more light after looking at the credits of the B-side to Raspberry Beret ? and Yes, he would never write a song about having 'two cigs' in his pocket because he doesn't smoke.

I think he should have included on the ATWIAD album, instead of the weak song "Tambourine".

Housequake should interview them and ask about several of Prince's best songs!

OH.
...and now it's time 4 me 2 get my piece in about this "long version, short version" crap. 'The Hits' basically destroyed all of the general public's knowledge on Prince's discography, and the integrity of the recordings, by butchering nearly every song, including "Adore"! I mean... just because I'm old school, still have all of my vinyl, and my turntable, it doesn't mean that one should have 2 have that in order 2 hear and know the songs as they were released and intended. Besides that... the photography and the design of 'The Hits' was damn near abhorred... Glad I never bought that... but I did get 'The Black Album' CD... "He's a musician's musician..."

Word. ...and see Reply #20 for more on how 'The Hits' nearly ruined everything. ALSO... Whenever U hear a Prince song on the Music Choice "Classic R&B" channel. the credit always refers 2 'The Hits', instead of the album it actually came from. DAG... music history is getting &@%$ed over. [Edited 9/18/06 9:06am] "He's a musician's musician..."
