I recall reading in Dave Hill's "Price: A Pop Life" that he alleged that Morris Day actually wrote "Do Me, Baby" and that Prince paid off Morris by getting the Time signed and writing most of the Time's original record.

I always found it curious that so many different stories are alleged about Prince stealing "Do Me, Baby" since it is one of his most performed songs. Is he doing it all the time to claim it as his own or is he doing it all the time b/c he actually wrote it? I always thought he would leave it alone and rarely play it if he stole it.

In my opinion, I see nothing wrong with what Prince has alledgedly done. It is totally absurd to think Prince could write songs without being "influenced" by another person(s) work. This sort of thing occurs all the time in the industry. Also, I read the interview with Andre Cymone from 1998 from this forum. There are so many inconsistencies with Andre's story concerning his involvement with Prince in the early days. I don't believe a word from Andre. I believe Andre and other former Prince employees (Wendy and Lisa) receive too much credit for their contributions to Prince's work. In other words, the contributions made by Andre, Lisa, and Wendy are grossly overstated.
