He exhibits all the same characteristics that any successful businessman has, and he's only gotten smarter as time has gone by. I don't for one second believe that all that effort was put into promoting Tamar for only a few one-off shows in selected cities. Similarly, Prince wouldn't have promoted "3121" as extensively as he did after announcing a tour was forthcoming if he wasn't committed to that tour. I say these things from the perspective of a businessman. Goals were set and Prince had, IMO, every intention of reaching them. Something happened to change everything. In case you forgot, Prince's wife sued for divorce. We don't know the circumstances behind it, but we do know that Mani filed - not Prince. Therefore, it is possible that Prince didn't want the divorce. If that's so, then losing your wife when you didn't want to would qualify as something that might change everything. Prince had made committments to appear on TV and promote "3121". He honored those committments. As far as we know, however, there were no signed documents or booked arenas set up for the tour. Therefore, there were no committments. Not touring doesn't appear to have broken any committment. To say that Prince just drops proteges and scuttles tours at the drop of a hat doesn't make business sense to me. Interesting. Everything u said I already KNOW. I think u missed the point of my comments. [Edited 9/13/06 9:00am]

I'm certain that both that demo and those bizarre questions, one of which was asking for our favourite out-take, may be very interesting when speculating about what P's next online project is. That was indeed the purpose of him posting that song. U hit the nail on the head there. It was his way of saying "it ain't over"... don't worry. That is the truth, from a very reliable source. The demo was available on the main site and wasn't part of any beta part of the site. Only the new Musicology store was beta, the demo was a link on the main page. And bear in mind that the demo was released quite some time after the NPGMC clearly stated that they were no longer taking on any more new memberships (i.e. they knew that the club wouldn't be existing for much longer). The demo was definitely part of the goodbye and the demise of the NPGMC was not a sudden decision.

Life happens to all of us that are living it.
Maybe it is not a case of changing one's mind or being a liar. Possibly, going where life is taking you because that is what is going on in your life. Not one thing that I planned at the beginning of this year has happened, and won't happen because life happened to me. No matter how most of us plan our lives to be, things never seem to go the way we pictured it. Who can get upset when it happens to someone in the public eye? Besides, the most life changing things happen when you never planned on them to happen at all.

The demo was definitely part of the goodbye and the demise of the NPGMC was not a sudden decision. I've lost the relevant email, but thinking back I think I used a direct link from an npgmc email which went to a new section 'fresh from the studio' or something. You may be right, it may not have been in the beta download store section, however it seemed to use the same developed interface, so I still say why develop the interface if they knew it was going to be shut down? Anyway, this discussion is more about when they knew the site was going to be cancelled; it went down around July 5th? And yet a mere month earlier I have an email from the npgmc saying that the first of the Ahdio shows was now back available for downloading and that the other ones would be released 'in coming months'. So at least at that point it would seem they had no idea of an end-date for the club.

Personally, i don't see Prince changing his mind alot. Rather I look upon it as Prince not making up his mind at all. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

I think that's very astute. He has so many creative ideas floating through his mind, he talks about doing this project or that project or maybe touring etc etc but in fact most times he never even gets to the point of a concrete decision.
