ohmigawd. What you wrote is not even remotely "semi-obvious." Can you attribute all of that BS to a kid? I mean, nukka was barely out of his teens when he wrote it, right? Good Lord. No offense, but that is the most bullshit I've read in the span of two sentences in my entire life.

I have quite a few gay friends and they're always trying to grasp onto anything that could be spun into "he's gay." I call them on the bullshit now, cause it's ridiculous.

First of all, I don't belive Prince is 'gay'. I do believe he has had sex with men. I'm from Minneapolis. I've got all kinds of stories about Prince. Prince, before he became popular, used to be a regular at gay bars in Minneapolis, Clound 9 and The Salloon. I had an old boyfriend, who was about 10 years older than me, who told me that back in the day Prince actually stole a boyfriend from him. I used to be friends with Prince's personal assistant, who was gay, and I got other stories about that, too.

But whatever...I tried to bring this stuff up before on the org, and I TOTALLY got flamed... I actually think it's sorta ridiculous for you to correct your gay friends because Prince sets off their gaydar. I mean C'mon ON! The dude's like a fucking BLACK LIBERACE! Whatever, my observations about BAMBI are based on what I believe to be true about Prince.

Alot of the gay people I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with r so animated when they come up with thses cock n bull 'stories' (as U put it) make them seem so entirely believeable. I think that's why they do so good in sales focused roles.
The thing U should ask Urself when someone conveys such crap, is the motivation behind it.
Those could well b mighty offensive allegations Uve raised there, would U or Ur 'friends' b willing 2 put their names 2 it? I think not.

What I have said is absolutely 100% true. It is not made up. It is not a lie. It's not something that I say because I am prone to lying because I'm gay. I heard this stuff about Prince repeatedly from different people who were there in '78 or whenever it was. You may not actually believe what I believe about Prince, but you have absolutely no reason to believe that I am telling a story that I believe to be false.

The reason I have a hard time believing Prince is gay is because he used to seem so uncomfortable around men. I think it's better now, because he's grown more confident. I just remember seeing a huge difference when he would do interviews with men and with women. He seemed more comfortable around the women folk, and would open up more. He likes having women in his band also. I would think that a gay man would maybe spend a little more time with men, and not act so competitive or nervous around them. I could be completely wrong, but that's my observation. The only thing that throws me off is seeing him get picked up and flung around constantly by those big guys in his band during the D&P era. eek That always made me horribly nervous.

Back to Bambi, I agree with those who say it's about a naive young man trying to get himself some "forbidden fruit". What better way is there to inflate the ego than to convert a lesbian with your manhood. lol

Wow, totally right on! I so agree with everything you said. You're very perceptive. I remember the Robin Power interview with Joan Rivers, where she found it mind boggling that anyone would think he was gay. She said hanging out with him at clubs, if guys would talk to him he'd be totally uninterested and non communitve...if a pretty girl talked to him...he was all chatty and nice. I just got the feeling that much that he never liked the company of men that much in the first place.

Oh goodness, that was quite the post! But I have to agree with this statement. Even my man, who is about as hetero as they come (hee hee), has said that he sometimes gets a funny feeling when he looks at Prince. Prince uses feminine wiles to woo women, but it sometimes works on men! As soon as Prince starts batting his eyelashes and tossing his hair, my man just HAS to look away!

I have to disagree on this one. When I was BIG into Prince back in the 80s (I did have posters in my room - next to Madonna, Vanity, Shelia E and others) my friends used to always laugh at me and tell me that if I were to ever be with a guy it would be Prince. My girlfriend still says this (I think this is just to justify her own lesbian thoughts for Janet Jackson). I do admit I loved looking at him, but I was never sexually attracted to him. I just always thought he was the coolest looking MF around, and I wished I could be him. If I could have walked around high school dressing like him, I would have in a second. I wished I could talk to and connect with women the way he did. But he never gave me that “special feeling”

How tragically desperate people sound when they gin up this "he said/I heard/I'm from" nonsense. People who we admire don't have to be into the same things that we are. In fact if that is really a prerequiste for us to identify with them, then ultimately we are all a bunch of loser narcissists because we are really just getting off on ourselves instaed of letting other people be who they are. It's sad and tired.

I can definitely relate to that. I've always admired the way he connects with women without looking like a typical macho male stereotype. That has always inspired me and ironically allowed me to develop a level of understanding with women most cats never have. Dude is the MF man in my book. thumbs up!

I don't see why lesbians would be offended over Bambi. It's clearly just a hurt guy trying to make himself feel better by making ludicrous self-assuring comments.

Every guy does it. It's like when the girl you like is with another guy and you think to yourself, "Aw, that guy's a fucking loser! What's she doing with him?! He'll never make her happy like I could!"

It's typical behavior, nothing more.

The fact that his comments are ridiculous just show what a state he's in over this women.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

From what I've seen of the gay men I know, if they're trying to hide who they are or aren't completely out, they're more likely to be uncomfortable around other men than women. Why in the world would someone who, being in the public eye and publicly only liking women, be more comfortable around the gender they're attempting to hide their interest in? Not saying that means anything about Prince, but be reasonable.

Also a possibility. Could be that, could be anything. I'm just trying to counter-argue the piss-poor reasons Prince couldn't possibly be gay. I'm not tryin to say that he he's anything, just that only he can know for sure.
