What do you mean?
I think he is very serious about his art.
Not promoting yourself like a media ho doesn't mean you are not serious, he may deviate from what other musicians do, but i think that makes him unique.
think he is a bit too self critical, in my opinion, but many eccentric people are that way.

If i totaly didn't get what you were talking about, you have permission to slap me upside the head. lol

Why has Prince courted the mainstream in the 90s and 2000s apart from Rainbow Children instead of following his own muse and lived up to the genius tag instead of appearing on AI and signing with Universal and putting out crap like New Power Soul and Rave and Musicology and 3121. Me, I know that I've deviated from the path even though it hasn't served me, because I'm lazy and easily distracted, so I've answered my own question now, so mods u can lock this thread. I'm pissed.

Whether or not he's not taking it seriously is beyond me. Courting the mainstream is part of who he is.

Prince said he courted the mainstream when released the "Prince" album. He courted the mainstream when he signed with WB, appeared on American Bandstand, Solid Gold, various award shows, etc.. Prince definitely courted the mainstream in 1984 when he put out the most radio freindly album heever made.

i slapped myself upside the head for not being realistic about how often he pimped the mainstream this last year. guess i was thinking of the "quiet" years when only his fans knew what he was up too, and others asked 'what ever happened to prince?'. my only answer would be 'he's still around he just doesn't follow mainstream promotion' cause when he does it always ends up as a record label battle. doing his own thing is why i see him as eccentric and unique-but, tis true, it is not always the smartest/serious way to sell music. he is too controlling on that end.

anyhoo, think i got it now. small improvement to my dip factor.
