I'm not sure Prince feels anything. I think it's all acting. That's what you've got to keep in mind when dealing with Prince. He has a tendency to be emotionless, and if he's "acting" an emotion out, just wait, when he doesn't get a rise out of you, he will change his act.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

I think it was just a light-hearted dig from the depths of his ego, bit like his thing with Jesse. It's not like he carried it on or anything, it was only used for the one track IIRC, right?
