When I played the new album to a friend for the first time the other day, he said its just like girls & boys with guitar.

I love Girls and Boys. This is Prince at his peak. The reason is that it is not conventinal and not very comercial, but still entertaining. It is also one of few of his hitsongs I still find interessting to listen to. Kiss, 1999 and so on is entertaining, but Girls and Boys is popart. It is also a great livesong.

After writing so many songs, there are only so many melodies you can come up with. Heck, Bach reused melodies all the time. I also think that Black Sweat sounds like The Work. It's probably going to happen more and more.

I always hear similarites to "Shop Around" by the Miracles, at least the way the first part of the verse is sang.

hey! i thought this was just my own little weird quirk -- everytime i listen to "Fury" I find myself singing the lyrics to "Girls & Boys" over it! Glad to see I'm not completely insane.
