How to keep that feeling?!

I'm just in the midst of putting my townhouse on the market and looking for a home. Being in the Bay Area (CA) it is a highly expensive and scary endevour. Out here you are lucky if you get a fifty yr old home, 1000 sq. ft. and 1 bath in a "so-so" neighborhood for $325,000.00... It's like: get in the market or move away. So stressfull.

Anyway, as I was loading stuff into storage (having to "stage" my house for prospective buyers) I had Nikka's "Everybody's Got their Something" playing. As I unlocked the storage, out of nowhere this feeling of joy came over me. You know? Like the feeling at a Prince show. That kind of really powerful feeling of "god I feel sooo good at this very minute" feeling... singing and shakin as I'm moving our life into a box. But then it slips away, slowly...back to the usual feelings of the day.

Do you know what I'm talking about? If so, what's it like through your eyes? And, how do you hold onto it?

"And, how do you hold onto it?"

I don't think you can hold on to it, but you can enjoy that moment and know that there will be more to come...

So look forward to it! heart

I think of this feeling as being totally in the present moment. Thoughts of what has happened and what will happen are lost. All you are aware of is your life and how good it is. When you think about your life, what worries/concerns you? It is things like what happened last night/at work etc... or what is going to happen like 'will the new job change go OK?' etc...

But in the present, none of that is relevent. All there is is simply the feeling of being alive.

And I agree with sag10: 'I don't think you can hold on to it, but you can enjoy that moment and know that there will be more to come... '

And you can also always think back to that moment. It might not be as potent, but at least it is something.

biggrin

ps: I hope this makes sense and thanx to berry for encouraging me. smile

Berry, I do know that feeling, and I try and hold on to it by thinking about the one I love most, my daughter.
If I'm in a good mood, she maintains it, in abad one, she changes it.

My advice 2 U, think about the one 1 U love most. Hug'em with your heart. smile

Therapy

I call that feeling giving love to myself, being my friend, an enlightened feeling. I've had a lot of therapy, to scrape away the shit on top of my 'core'... I spent a long time *thinking* about how to get that feeling back, theorising etc... For me, its about allowing myself to be kind and good to me, not thinking it though, *doing* it. I think by valuing it while it is there, that's one way. I also think to be as aware as possible about your thoughts... ie. i do this... 'God, look how you did that... stupid cow... get a move on...'etc... these are all internalised negative core beliefs that my parents so kindly gave me, that i have to learn to counter balance with positive affirmations like 'I think I've made a mess of that... oh, but i love u anyway!... it's ok to take your time' etc. I still find myself giving myself that shit that has become habit in my thoughts over the years, I think that the *process* of healing takes time to undo. Perhaps see it as learning to walk, or ride a bike. It's a radical new skill that will take time to achieve, but achievable it is! For me, the biggest issue is trust in myself. I am learning that also. I will get there! That was trust, that last sentance! So will u Berry, so will u...

That's why Lovesexy is my number one Prince song right now, it's so fitting. Listen to the lyrics. Im sure that's what he's talking about. Listening to Lovesexy brings it on for me!
