What song would you like Prince to release WITHOUT the sound effects? I have been thinking about this for quite a while, and finally decided to write this thread after reading another orger's comment. There are some Prince songs from the mid 90's that I would love if Prince didn't put those ANNOYING SOUND EFFECTS in them! Sometimes I wonder what he was even thinking! I truly feel that songs like Shy and What's My Name would sound much better if Prince recorded them again, or just took the sounds out. To me, the sound effects make the songs sound more dated, and take away from the music. What songs would you like to hear without being distracted by sounds of screaming women, blaring sirens, screeching tires, laughing dolphins, computer noises, dying goats, and whatever else Prince sampled in them?
Also, what is your least favorite sound effect of all? Mine would have to be the woman's scream, because it sounds more like a cat being tortured than anything human. [Edited 9/7/06 9:38am] Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

Annoying Sound Effects?
As long as it goes with the music, I think it's an instrement. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so. You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

Only if you are thinking "this is a cool groove" and then the sound effect slaps you out that reality. I'm not in suport of prince's choices of sound effects, but I do understand how they fit into the over all consept of the artistic expression of the song. That is, at least in the mind of Prince. As long as it goes with the music, I think it's an instrement. Exactly. Unless it's someone else's song in the background. Andy is a four letter word.

I'd take out the effects over kill from the album version of TMBGITW. I like the video and single version so much better.

Ah yes, I forgot that one. It had water dripping, and a ticking clock! I agree. Wanna hear me sing? www.ChampagneHoneybee.com

They aren't always sound effects, but I'm not a fan of those extra things at the beginnings of many of his songs.
I'd get rid of "Are you ready?" from Interactive. come to think of it I'd get rid of the beeping, too. I wish GB had fewer of them, for example before The Question of U & Elephants & Flowers. The alarm clock on Starfish & Coffee is pretty bad. The poetry before the songs on Come. Things that get in the way of the song starting, like the lauch sequence on Live 4 Love My Legacy
