when shes lying there reading 'I want to be an honest man...' my eyes just filled up and the tears poured down my cheeks OH MY GOD!!!!! my boyfriend was laughing at me - but i could see his eyes were a bit cloudy as well

U r definitely not alone,wendyrachel! I cry EVERY single time I watch it.I just can't bear the thought of being without Prince on this earth.I cry with or without wine! Feel better?

I cry every time I watch it and over the last 20 years, I've watched it at least 10000 times.

I've sat in a room with four other men... I say men, seventeen year old boys really, and all five of us have cried. It was in 1989/90. We were all involved in the school production of 'Midsummer Night's Dream' and we were all a touch drunk. We watched, laughed, sighed and cried. It was the gayets moment of my life so far. I loved every second.

I meant gayest, obv. It still makes me smile to think of the rugby playing, butch, drama loving cohort I existed within, watching such a movie and ALL crying... NO MATTER WHAT THEY MAY SAY TO THE CONTRARY! Like small babied, we cried and then heaved a sigh of apprecition. Prince in the 80's was the bomb.

I Cried, I was Drunk at the Time... My best friend was watching with me, he didn't say anything about my crying.

I only cried when Prince "kissed" the girl. Felt really bad for the poor thing.

I always cry at the end of this film too, when he gets shot & asks "we had fun didn't we?" It gets me every time.But i can't say the same about Purple Rain when he sings it at the end. It just doesn't do it for me. I know he's best known for Purple Rain but i love UTCM best.He definitely doesn't get enough credit for this film.Maybe people are put off by the black & white.

No - I totally agree with you on this - I think we are one of the few who actually GET what Prince is trying to do in this film - hes having fun - its beautiful to watch - and the scenery is great - it looks fab in Black and white!

I don't like to admit this, but I can't bring myself to watch the end.

I think that Prince had a lot to say in this film. What I like the most is the story about Mary Sharon. How her parents dictated her life to a suffocating degree, and only when Christopher came in the picture did she feel liberated.
