Who's ready for a BIG change in Prince music?...A new Rainbow Children type album....

I am sick of 3121 and Musicology. I want Prince to go way in the other direction again and make me think. I loved the Rainbow Children and thought it was musically brilliant. What do you think?

I agree! Rainbow children was way over the top, musically talking.
On the last album, "3121" & "The Dance" are to my opinion the only true tunes.
Even thought P has become a highly respected musician, producer and songwriter, it seems like he now looks for the "hit" instead of being simply creative and impredicable just like the old time.
The Funk, the whole Funk, nothin' but the Funk !

I'd love to see Prince do a real rock record. I'd love to her great guitar riffs without too much synth and without silly lyrics like those in Lolita. Or, I'd also like to see him do a latin type of record.

I don't think Prince "should" go in any particular direction. Though I have to agree TRC was musically brilliant. nod
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Yes, me too. I didn't care for some of the lyrics and all the other mumbo-jumbo going on, but the music is amazing.

Like I've requested before: Cajun Zydeco please. It could be next. Where in the heck did "Te Amo Corazon" come from? Boredom. "Right the Wrong"? "Solo"? Same. Yes, Cajun is next baby, aww yeah geaux Prince

By the way alligator does taste like chicken.

Well, after Musicology and 3121, it couldn't get much worse, so any change is a good one.

No Nothing wouldn't be worse.

If Prince stopped putting out. Well we have memories and lots of Good CDs.

It would be better to fade away then crash and burn.

Good 2 see there R some lovers of "The Rainbow Children" here.

Since the search function has never worked on this site, it's impossible 2 look up past impressions of the album.

It is thematically and musically perfect.

Truly one of Prince's most fluid works.

Yeah, I just dig it...

Otherwise, in terms of the now, I'm sure there would be musical, lyrical, and vocal moments of nearly anything Prince does next that I would like, but YES... my taste is generally toward the so-called eclectic side...

Then again, U can't deny "Love"...

Peace.

G.

I would love to see another Rainbow type album but focused on rock, electronica or funk or maybe all of the above. I can't believe Rainbow and Musicology are back to back. How do you go from one to the other????

The Rainbow Children is a marvellous album. His last 2 albums (Musicology/3121) just sound like a collection of 'songs'. I've just acquired 'Slaughterhouse' and 'Chocolate Invasion' and upon first glance they don't sound at all bad.

Because albums R not always recorded in a linear fashion, sequentially in time... Songs overlap, and there is no identifiable order of creation, unless U R looking at track sheets from the studio, with accurate dates.

Whatever Prince decides 2 release is what we hear, unless U work 4 Prince in the creation process... performing, recording, mixing, mastering, etc.

NOW... Occaisionally, we do get the album that is recorded quickly, without much break inbetween recording sessions... like 'The Rainbow Children' and 'Lovesexy' appear 2 have been...

What is interesting is that Prince has delivered substantial examples of both this method with the above mentioned examples, which I refer 2 as "thematic", and collaged bodies of work, such as "Sign O The Times" , "1999", etc.

Peace.

G.

"PS": I love how "The Rainbow Children" sounds as if it were recorded on 2" tape. It not only stands out musically, but sonically...

i'd like to see Prince be self-contradictory enough as to sing 'Dear Mr Man' at a fucking expensive Las Vegas show.
