Phoney Balloney Republicans

I just wanted to point out how phony this administration is. We see on the news that the Republican administration is backing the arrests of the individuals who committed fraud (Worldcom/Adelphia) and we see how they are committed to cleaning up corporate misconduct. However , does anyone remember that just last year Bush & Cheney would not lift a finger to intervene in California's power crisis? The only reason that they are now taking any kind of action is because of how many American's these scandals have touched. It was easy to ignore California's pleas for help in stopping the outright theft by companies like Enron when it wasn't a state that helped win you the fake entry into the white house. And it's no coincendence that they turned a blind eye to the crisis, afterall they have connections to Enron. Now that these corporate scandals have punched citizens in places like Texas, it's easier for them to hear the cries for help.

If this administration didn't have the "War on Terrorism" and only had to deal with the Corporate scandals, this nation would be in an uproar. The War on Terrorism is the only thing saving this adminstration's ass.

How does this relate to Prince music? It doesn't. Hell, if bullshit posts are still allowed, and there have been many since GD forum went down, then this should be too.

I say strip these theives of every asset they own to repay all the everyday hardworking people who were stripped of years and years of hardwork. I don't understand how come we weren't arresting and taking away all the wealth from these people until now. It really is time for reform and I hope this time it happens.

Agreed with everything you said, but please don't use that logic to automatically deduce that Democrats are your friends either - or any less phony. If you read Moore's book (I think that was you), you can really see how little difference there is between the 2.

Not to mention the fact that if the Republicans put as much effort into correcting corporate greed as they did in making President Bill Clinton's penis a matter of national scrutiny then this situation will surely be fixed in no time!

Yes I agree the 2 aren't much different but the Republicans will throw your ass under the bus in no time flat. I deem the Republicans as the more evil of the 2 parties simply because of their close connection with the religious right.

Because THESE are the people that run the show. THEY are in charge. THEY make the rules - all by working the puppet strings of finance to control the opinions of the people that we THINK we're electing. Really we're just voting for which stack of money we want to build the hill with, not the king that will sit on top of it.

Nadar would've been a giant stick up the ass of these people, but big money, which controls our access to information and subsequentially our election process, stonewalled him. He wasn't even allowed to ATTEND the debates, let alone participate. Hell, someone would probably have shot him by now. Given a real voice, he's a big threat to a lot of people, and those people play for keeps.

You're talking about a shit load of cash, controled by a VERY FEW select people who have ZERO interest in changing the system that THEY BUILT - the one that perpetuates their wealth.

True change will not happen with our 2 party system. We have been collectively brainwashed by these same information hounds to believe that we WASTE our vote if we refuse to tow the line. VOTE THESE BASTARDS OUT and stop feeling like you MUST choose the lesser of 2 evils! The difference is negligible.

There is NO SUCH THING as a wasted vote.

I hope you didn't think I was implying you were ignorant. I wasn't. Maybe all the caps came off heavy, but that's a product of my frustration and general powerlessness, not any a reaction to your statements.

I'll definitely go along with that. Republicans' fascination and obsession with wealth is much more crude and transparently obscene than the Democrats'. At least the donkeys sometimes pretend to give a damn about conservation, pollution, diversity, choice and social equality, the elephants just say "If you're not rich, fuck you, it's your own damned lazy fault", then proceed to throw in you in prison when you slip through the cracks.

If I HAD to choose from the 2, I'll vote Dem every time, but I have other choices. We all do.

Nader was too busy putting time, effort, and attention into game 6 of the NBA WCF to worry about such things as what's going on in the world.

BOTH parties are the same.. there is NO difference

we need a 3rd party.. get rid of all the soft money completely..

H Ross Poret PROVED this country wanted and needed a 3rd choice.. with such a moron as him.. he got 20% of the vote..

BOTH parties knew right there to NEVER allow the playing field to be fair and have 3 choices on tv debating each other.. because by now 10 years later.. we would have had a better 3rd party choice.

* They BOTH know.. if there is 3 choices or a guy in the middle .. they can't play their voting game on bills.. filibusters.. & just total Bull Crap of shaddy deals and crap that goes on.

It doens't matter at all who you pick when it comes down to only 2 parties..

Just pick a guy who doesn't sound like a moron making speechs... so OUR Stock Market doesn't fall appart ( like NOW)

and maybe a guy who doesn't go to Camp David EVERY WEEKEND.. ( then goes on a MONTH long vacation)

that might help too..

* Just like his Father.. Dumb & Lazy

Could you imagine if they both didn't have that billion dollar trust fund.. where they would both be.. if they had to work for a living

I wonder why I am consistently lambasted and chastised for continually "wasting my vote" when I go outside the box...

You're right. Polarity does not work. Picking sides, us vs. them, right and wrong, liberal vs. conservative...leads to a lot of finger pointing, blind loyalty and misguided votes cast designed not so much FOR one person as AGAINST another.

Now THAT"S a wasted vote.

my two cents folks: i don't believe either party are saints. they will both screw you in a second. however, i wouldn't even want to begin to imagine the nightmare this country would endure if the democrats were handling the 9/11 situation. if you don't have national security, NOTHING else matters. i strongly believe that had gore won the presidency, there would have been several more attacks on our soil. say what you want about bush, but he got tough with those assholes and shipped scores of then to cuba. if all those detainees were not being detained, you can bet your ass there would have been more attacks.gore would not have the balls to go to the extreme that bush has to keep our country safer.

My comments exactly, Organgrinder. The organization is false, and it goes to show that many voters, 50% of them, are completely blinded by the nonsense of politics and the game that they play. Gore was hands down the lesser of two evils in that election, and Nader was the best choice, if there even was a best choice. Now I don't expect a man-leader to be Jesus Christ, but I do expect, at the very least, for our leaders not to conceal and/or commit murders and wrong doings, like many of our administrations in the last 100 plus years have been assumed of.

And, don't forget...right before 9/11, the heat of the downfall of the economy was on the White House, Bush strolled out to the rose garden THE DAY BEFORE 9/11, and he was asked, "What will you do next regarding the economy?".
He replied, eerily,

"We've got a plan".

And he walked away, only replying to that one question. The next morning, I woke up, and heard that airplanes were running into buildings.

This New World Order shit is upon us, and I warn you all, DON'T ACCEPT A NATIONAL ID CARD OR ANY OTHER SUCH FORM OF CONTROLLED CENTRAL IDENTIFICATION OR TRACKING METHOD.

GOD WILL REDEEM US. LOVE IS ALL WE NEED.

This is just things that I have heard, not to be taken as actual comments from me, Jason Dodson.

Peace,
JD

This is sort of what I meant when I alluded to the tough spot he's in - and I don't think anyone would argue with that. We've gone almost a year now with no successful follow up attacks and, if nothing else, demonstrated to the rest of these pricks exactly what we're capable of if you stir up some shit like that, so I suppose some credti should be given somewhere.

If something else were to happen, people would be all over this administration for doing nothing and allowing it to take place. Yet if he takes action, he gets criticized from the other end. Really, what do you do? Glad it's not me making these decisions.

And by the way, I am SO TIRED of people crying out for understanding regarding the motivation for those despicable acts of genocide in New York and DC last year. I don't give a damn what they were protesting or why particularly. Ted Kazinski(sp?0 and Tim McVeigh had motiviations based in "righteousness" and self defense too. In their mind they were freedom fighters - fighting the good fight against the big bad ugly American system. Should we extend our compassion and understanding to those people also? Is it OK because they had their reasons?

Also, I realize that we fuck up a lot as a nation and do not always set the best example; we have a lot of problems and do a lot of things wrong. However, why do millions of people from all over the world risk their lives daily for a CHANCE to live here? We must be doing something right. Consider the state of religous freedom, women's rights, capital punishment, choice, democracy, free speech and opportunity in the regimes that have declared war on us. In most of these countries, I would be shot on sight or jailed immediately just for writing this.

In this context, yes, we ARE the good guys. I'll take this country and all of its blemishes, and work hard to correct them whenever i get the chance.

Oh, and by the way Mr. Ashcroft and Mr.Bush, why aren't some corporations being branded "environmental terrorists"? And, also, use the words "terrorist" and "terror" more cautiously. Terror could simply mean scaring someone at a halloween party. If I put on a spooky mask and goose somebody does it make me a terrorist? Ummm, NO. Watch the terminology.

Also, everyone, check this link.
