Musiclogy has some tight bass work! Anyone notice this?
I was listening to cd today(good album i must say) and it has some great bass. I know Prince doesn't show off on record and doesn't like to play over the top just for the sake off it but there's some really nice stuff especially on 'call my name' and 'what you want me 2 do'. I wish Prince would really go for it and pluck the hell out of that mutha like flea or even l gayham.

Yes, there was a transcript of the Call My Name bass lines in a German guitar and bass magazine.

Yeah, I really missed Rhonda on 3121.

This is the one CD I've been avoided. Maybe I'll give it a listen.

And Candy. And Blackwell. And Chance. And Renato. ... What; they were hardly on musicology. Prince played nearly everything. I buy a Prince album to listen to PRINCE; no one else! I'd prefer him to play every single note!

I love Musicology and Prince, too,
and the "hardly" that those other folks played on the CD happen to be my favorite songs. "Marrying Kind" and "If Eye Was the Man in Ur Life" sound much more dynamic and make the first half of the record that Prince pulled himself sound a little ... 2-dimensional in musicianship, which was what the album's theme was trying to promote. Don't get me wrong, I love "Illusion, Coma, Pimp, and Circumstance" probably more than most, but again with the "real instrumentation" he was trying to display.
