What are some thoughtful, charitable things that Prince has done? Let's give credit where it's do.
I know on the Purple Rain tour, Prince encouraged concert goers to donate food to the less fortunate. The New Year's Eve show from December 31st 1987 was a benefit for the homeless. An after show in 87 was for a children's hospital. Prince helped his sister Tyka by paying for her rehab. Gave credit, reportedly, to his father for songwriting credits to help him financially. not really charitable but thoughtful: during the last celebration, when the a/c went out over at paisley he took everybody to the theater down the street to go see minority report. i wasn't there, but i remember reading peoples' stories about it here and i thought, "cool!"

He was involved for years in contributing to Marva Collins school for underpriveledged children in Chicago. Just because a celebrity doesn't publicize everything they do to help people, doesn't mean they're not doing anything. I have more respect for someone who does things and not seek publicity for it, than someone like Michael Jackson, or other publicity hunger celebrities who has to publicize every time they do one little thing.

SST/Brand New Orleans proceeds supposedly going to victims of Hurrican Katrina. The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

nice idea for a thread imo.
reminds me of the story in the Bible where Jesus said the woman who gave her last penny was far more charitable than the rich man who gave more than her, but not his last. dont misread me here, i know Prince has a good heart, and as its been stated, it isnt really known how many 'charitable' or thoughtful things he has done because they are not necessarily publicised. i am very interested to hopefully read about occasions where he really went all out. x " the embassy shut to keep the fools out " - as above, so below.
