Lovesexy CD question Quick question: I recently purchased Lovesexy on CD and came to find out that all of the songs were indexed as one continuous track. Can anyone tell me if this CD was ever re-released with the tracks separated?
Any info is much appreciated.. -Brian

I think that US "Promo Only" Discs were all tracked.
Very hard to find though. Make a cd-r using "Sound Jam" software (Mac Only?) to track your Lovesexy disc. [This message was edited Sat Aug 10 18:05:03 PDT 2002 by squirrelgrease] If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

The re-releases from last year are tracked. Nothing more or less than that. You just buy them at the wholesale broker

All German pressings were tracked. "Everybody's looking 4 the ladder, everybody wants salvation of the soul. The steps u take r no easy road. But the reward is great 4 those who want 2 go.."

That's funny, Eye have a German issue of Lovesexy, and it is NOT tracked...

Here's the facts...
All German pressings (that means all UK copies as well) manufactured for at least the last 2 years are tracked. They are not bootlegs, they come directly from Warner Music (Europe). As far as I'm aware there have never been any tracked versions manufactured in the U.S. (except for some DJ Promo copies made at the time of release). This means that if you buy a copy in any UK/European music store today you're almost certain to get a tracked copy. But, since the catalogue number, artwork and printing on the disc is exactly the same as the old untracked version, there's no way of knowing for sure unless you play it. Your safest bet to get a tracked copy is to purchase it from your local major record store (like Virgin Megastores or HMV), as there is less likelihood that their copy's are old stock (and therefore, untracked).

I was in HMV(London) and they sale the one from Germany which is traked. Just order it from them.

I've lucked out TWICE and have found tracked US promo copies in the used bins of local record stores. The thing I don't like about the tracked US copies is that, at the tracking breaks, the songs fade out to silence (for radio play) rather than going from one track to the next (i.e., between Eye No, and Alphabet St.). Otherwise, I love to have this version when I want to play a particular song.

Why not just make your own tracked version?
Rip the one track to your hard drive as a .wav file (yes, it'll be big), then use a .wav editor to chop it into tracks, then burn a CD with the newly seperated tracks. You could even normalize the levels or bring them up. There is no reason to pay anything for an import tracked version, unless, of course, you like throwing money away.

I recently purchased the LoveSexy CD, took it home... and it wouldn't play on my record player! Also, its small and silver. Has anyone else had problems with it? ----------------------------

I closely looked to both versions of The CD.
There is a minor difference if you look at the left uppercorner at the backside of the booklets. The tracked version of the CD has printed the catalogue number over there and the untracked not. Also on the back of the jewelcase you see the catalogue number printed in the left uppercorner. On the untracked version the lettertype is italic and on the tracked version not. I think that's the only way to find out without listening. Charles. Sometimes I Trip On How Happy We Could Be...

My copy is tracked and I bought it YEARS ago (might have been 1995 or something...) for a whopping 3£! Must be really rare then.
