Kelly's Double Disc Prince The past couple months a friend of mine has been getting into Prince. I told her I would make her a couple cds with songs she must hear, to listen to while she gets her collection going.
I am sooo overwhelmed with what I should put on the cds for her. Anyone wanna help me out? Thanks~Loisclark88~Kelly Everytime I comb my hair

What kind of stuff does she particularly like?

Think of the songs that got u hooked 2 Prince 4 the first time, and work your way up from there.

I would put the songs that you loved and got you hooked on Prince. Then, as a little teaser--put a couple of his B-sides tracks and unreleased material that you enjoyed on there to give her a near-detailed scope on who he really is! Check me out and add me on:

just go through all the albums and pick 1 track that you like the best
don't think too long and hard about it, just pick the 1 track that you immediately think of or want to listen to when you think of an album. put them all together and lace them with some "easy" prince tunes like i don't know, dinner with delores and tangerine and such, just to make it all go down a bit better. and don't put too many over 4 or 5 minute songs on such a compilaton as it tends to bore people if they have to listen to a long song when they can't get into it. better start with the good short ones and put in one or two longer ones just to show he has that style down too. keep it brisk and clean, never mind putting a song from 88 next to one from 2004, as long as the flow of the disc is ok, go for it. that way, you can introduce someone to the complete pallet of his styles before a person can say "ugh, i don't like this" and put the tape aside. remember, even his most obsessed fans on the org (lol) all have their favorit prince "period", so just put stuff from every period alongside each other. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Usually my Prince tastes are right in line with yours, but I think "Tangerine" and "Dinner With Delores" are The Normal Whores Club

If you don't want to go down the obvious route of just compiling studio tracks then nothing beats a great live show and there are hundreds of Prince gigs to choose from, particularly aftershows.

Just give her 1999 , P.R. and SOTT. That should satisfy her for awhile. "

I don't think Tangerine is a boring song. It's a short, nice, pleasant song. Dig the ext version.
Anyway, you propably have to consider what your friends usually listens, too. Some of my friends I'd have to do a pop collection, for others things like "Witness 4 the prosecution" and the outtake version of "Something in the water".
