prince wrote 'what have you done for me lately?' it may sound funny but did prince write 'what have you done for me lately?'
i remember a concert in the nude tour when the band was playing a few bars of this song while prince was singing: - who wrote this? me? makes me feel good! what did he mean? i'm labeled as a bad character

No, he didn't write it, at least he's not credited with the song rights at Ascap. It is sometimes speculated that he was having a dig at Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis copying his style, although the song appears in a segment of the show when Rosie was singing some cover versions, it could just be some jokey interplay between them, sort of "hey, what you doing singing other people's songs at my concert?!" | |

it makes sense. thank you! do you think it is possible this song is based on a jam by prince and the time? or just strong inspiration? i'm labeled as a bad character
