From UK Entertainment Gossip Reporter, Neil Sean:
Two of pop's more elusive stars, Prince and Sheena Easton, have been secretly working on some new tracks together for the first time in nearly 20 years, and think they've found the formula for a winning album. A mole told me: "Prince has always loved her voice and thinks she has a great stage presense. He loves working with Sheena".

There was a documentary about her years ago, when she recorded a new album and tried to be all glam and capture the gay market - it totally bombed, and she went back to a regular slot singing in a Vegas nightclub, although I heard she actually made lots of money on property deals over the years. Having said that, I find this information very questionable, I think Prince would have an even harder time trying to get Sheena a hit than he would've Tamar!

My bad It seems to me Prince got more "hits" when he didn't want "hits" and wasn't trying for "hits" but what do I know. "not a fan" yeah...ok

In response to Metalorange's previous post:
The "glam" Sheena Easton album you were referring to was FABULOUS released on Univseral Records in November of 2000. The single from the CD, "Giving Up Giving In",peaked at #2 on the UK dance chart and was a minor hit throughout parts of Europe. The album was certainly not the "big comeback album" Universal Records had hoped for. Sheena Easton became a US citizen in 1992. She moved to Las Vegas approx 5 years ago and has since headlined shows at the Aladin, LV Hilton and the Rio which has proved to be very lucrative for her. She was inducted into the Las Vegas Hall of Fame in 2004. Sheena is the adopted mother of two small children, Jake and Skylar,

doesnt seem THAT unlikely a reunion if you consider Prince's recent residency at the Las Vegas club and if Sheena is living / working around there
too nowadays then why wouldnt they hook up and make sweet music Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

What's the full list of Prince/Sheena songs (to date)?
Sugar Walls U Got The Look 101 Cool Love Eternity The Arms Of Orion Anything else? La, La, La, He, He, Hee gets an honorary mention, since it was written by Prince on a dare by Sheena Easton that he couldn't write a song using that simple phrase. I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Oh no, that is sad news. Who listens to Sheena Easton?? At least who in the US?Maybe that album is for her release, and he's just helping her out. Maybe this is just for UK fans only. Sheena Easton, for goodness sakes. [Edited 8/29/06 12:35pm]

It's true. She doesn't need to work. She made millions by investing in Californian real-estate during the height of her fame.

She's a fantastic singer. She can sing all kinds of different music styles and is definately underrated. People only familiar with her hits do not have a clue as to how versitile she truly is. Prince likes to surround himself with talented people and Sheena Easton is no exception.
BTW.....This is reportedly a "Sheena Easton project" and not a "Prince project". The Neptunes are also rumored to be involved with productions.

[Edited 8/29/06 12:35pm] I listen to Sheena Easton and have been a fan of her's for over 20 years (I'm 33 yrs old). She has a loyal (international) fan base even though she hasn't recorded for nearly six years until now.

I dont hope 'this rumour' is true.
Sheena's input on U got the look was bearable because its such a good song. The Arms of orion is kitschy MOR-pap. Before Princes involvement with her music Sheena was known for her bland MOR-work. She sort of was the english Olivia Newton John. After her collaborations with Prince we havent heard almost nothing from her. I always think that its a strange contradiction that Prince seems to be able to find good, versatile musicians for his touring bands, but that he seems too lose his sense of musiciality when he chooses female protegees to write and produce music for. Lets face it, folks, Vanity and Appolonia cant sing, they look good, but thats it, the same goes for Martika, Cat, Carmen Electra and Mayte, those are not singers. I even think Sheila E. is a very mediocre singer, as much as i admire her skills on drums and percussion, she just isnt a singer. I also dont see much in Tamar, she sure is no Candi Staton or Marcy Gray. The only women he produced, who could really sing was Jill Jones, she had a very expressive voice and 'character', too bad he (?) didnt promote her that well. I am glad she untied herselve from the 'paisley park' movement. When you look back you will notice the women (but also the men and bands) who were produced and / or promoted by Prince have mostly dissapeared from the map. It tells a lot about their musical capabilicies and Prince tendency when it comes to female protegees, to follow his dick instead of his musical knowledge.

That's just your opinion. I think Sheena Easton is a far better vocalist than Jill Jones and sold as hell of a lot more records in the process. Sheena Easton has an excellent vocal range. Lets face it, folks, Vanity and Appolonia cant sing, they look good, but thats it, the same goes for Martika, Cat, Carmen Electra and Mayte, those are not singers. I totally agree, he has these amazing musicians who he demands the utmost ability from, and yet time and again when it has come to vocal talent he has chosen looks over ability. I think shows like Pop Idol have shown that in fact a true new vocal talent is very hard and rare to find, so perhaps we shouldn't blame Prince too much for 'settling' for an okayish voice and great looks, but that is one of the main reasons his proteges haven't really been that successful for very long. He also has a tendency to get involved with singers, however talented, far past their prime such as Mavis Staples, Chaka Khan and now Sheena if it is to be believed. Trying to get them back on top has time and again proved futile - they've simply had their time, and Prince should definately concentrate on his own career and music I think.
