Witness 4 The Prosecution - R&B/Funk Version or Rock Version ?

I like the stripped down simplicity and soul vibe of the R&B/Funk version of this song.

The Rock version is ok. But it seems as the years go by I have more of an appreciation for the R&B/Funk version.

I just love the rock version, not too keen on the other.

Love both really.

It illustrates the evolution of Prince's sound at the time. Only a few months apart, but the 2nd version points towards the stripped down stuff of the mid-late 80s like TBA, Madhouse 16, and Batman.

Brilliant stuff. cool

I definitely prefer the 'rock version' of this song, the minimal R&B version
(I wouldn't call it funk) kinda lacks something.

hmph! No. No way. Never. The rock version is one of my top 5 outtakes, I can hardly listen to that other one. I'd seriously wet myself if I ever hear him play the live band version again.

You're INSANE. The stripped-down-ed-ness, the drum machine beat, the Camille-esque vocals....Mama, I swear! love

Ok, I'll give it another listen then! It's not that I don't like it anyway, but everytime it comes up, it reminds me of the other version and I have to put that on.
