[Edited 8/25/06 15:49pm] I think the symbol album in general is one of the best things he's done. Unfortunately it can be inconsistent and indulgent at times. I remember an interview with the NPG maybe a year after the release of Symbol, due to the poor reception from critics and sales alike, the NPG were obviously disappointed. Once of the NPG members did say that hopefully in years to come it would be recognised as a classic. I really hope so to... if you look at the great songs on there... Sexy MF, Morning Papers, love 2 the 9's, 7, Continental and of course God Created Woman, you can see that this is some of P's best stuff. I have the album on my walkman without the stupid Kirsty Alley breaks and it does flow well. Although I would have removed a couple of songs, God Created Woman remains one of my favourites (maybe one of my favourite P songs ever). | |
