No Price Breaks for Europe! I'm seeing a lot of posts from Europeans saying that Prince won't be able to charge the same prices in Europe that he charged in America and Canada. My question is: Why can't the Europeans pay the same that we paid for Prince?
The price of the tickets in North America ranged from about $80 and went up to $150. If Americans and Canadians can take a hit in the wallet, why should Europeans get a price break?

It's simple. Average concert tickets in Europe cost a lot less than they do in the US. Die hard fans will purchase a ticket without a doubt, but the average music lover will probably look at the prices and rent a movie instead.
Prince might get away with a small tour, playing at very small venues. Even here in the US we saw he had problems selling 3,000 tickets. I wouldn't be surprised if the tour got "cancelled" either while he's there and ticket sales are less than desired or even before he takes off to Europe. Wasn't Madonna charging $200 to $250 for tickets to her shows in Europe? I think that Prince played in some smaller Canadian towns where he had never played before and he pulled in a good sized crowd. I think only one show was cancelled due to low ticket sales.

Madonna in Barcelona startet at 190 Swiss Francs whats

I'm searching Tickets or Pic's of it 4 my page www.prince-live.com

Whatever and like I said before, not everyone going to a Prince concert is a die hard fan.

Prince sold surprisingly well in some small Canadian cities where he had never performed, and at exorbitant prices too. True, one show was canceled, and some venues were far from filled, but attendance was high in Vancouver and a couple of Western Canada cities. Europe would have the advantage of casual fans who have attended Prince concerts in the past... And from all the boots, it looks like they had a lot of incredible shows there. So I wouldn't be surprised if sales were more than respectable.

Then y go and c him if u really dont like him that much? it's usually people like u who get the good seats that r suppose 2 go 2 the REAL fans! Let me break it down for you. In Europe it's usually general admission, no seats directly in front of the stage. Last Prince concert (general admission) I attended in Europe in '98 cost me $40 and for that price one could end up either 10 feet away from the stage or all the way in the back of the concert hall. IMO good seats should be for those who actually put some effort in buying tickets (getting up early, waiting in line for hours and hours) and then the same shit when you go to a concert. Those are the folks that really want to be there and willing to take the day off and sacrifice something, not those who join a stupid club and pay $100. It shouldn't be about how much money you're willing to spend, that's easy, it should be about what you're willing to do for good "seats". Anyway, I was about 40ft away from the stage and right next to me were two guys who only knew a few of his hits, but just wanted to see the big 80's icon in concert. That's just an example, but it's true that most of the people that night weren't hardcore fans. The easiest way to see that with your own eyes is to check out how many people actually end up going to the afterparty. Hell the summer '98 concert I also attended I took a friend with me, who's not even close to being a fan, still we ended up having good spots and got in the club for an aftershow with a 1,000 ticket limit. Very few people that showed up didn't get in and there were about 8-10 times more people at the concert. In '95 it cost me less than $30 to get a good spot fans in the US would end up paying $100-$125 for. Sure tickets in Europe have gotten more expensive in recent years, but not that expensive.

I remember the Sign of the times tour, it was a bloody $25 or maybe less. I can't remember the inflation went as high as that. $40 (or 40 euro) that should be the price. Not more. If he dares to charge 100 euros (220 bloody old guilders) here in the Netherlands, he will only have 10 people at his concert. We all know that Prince likes the Netherlands , so he proberly will charge $50.
... or not mmm How much was that Paard van Troje concert. Was it not like 12,50 (guilders)? Cheers, J.

No, I don't agree with having to jump through hoops or "suffer" for a good seat. I feel that anyone who pays $200 for a seat should be guaranteed a good seat. After paying $100 to join the club, then another $100 to $150 for a ticket, I don't want to have to suffer or go through an endurance test for a good seat. Unfortunately, that is the way things are with Prince shows. People are paying $200 and then standing in line for hours to get a "good" seat. In a few cities, there were reports of some fans who sneaked into the line at the front and got better seats than those who waited. There's no telling how this is going to work in Europe.

I think the main reason why Prince can't sell out small
venues is because he doesnot give enough notice before a show. The show in Lakeland had a 3 day notice for members and one day notice for the general public. Some people arenot able to come up with a cost of 2 hundred dollars to go to a concert with themselves and a date with only one day notice. When I went to the Dallas show, a lot of people the next day said they didn't even know Prince gave a concert the night before.. He should give at least a ten day notice, I bet he would sell more tickets than.

Ok people think about this the ecconomy here is totally diffrent in many many ways !
Like how many of you spend $68.00 American when you fill the car with regular midgrade unledded and no not afrer running on fumes either ? We pay more for c.d.s here so how about you give up youe $10. $12 $14 cd prices and pay an advrage of $22 for a compact disk ! And we will not discuss the issue with DVDs cuz I will surly go off ! And those of you who say money shouldn't matter to a true fan ok then don't feed your child for 2 weeks cuz you love Prince THAT Much ! Because no matter what country we're in not all people fortunate enough to have a car and a computer can actually afford much beyond regular expenses ! Prince can charge what he wants for his concerts but simple busness sence will tell you it's better to sell more tickets at a lower price than a few over priced tickets any day . Now I need to go wake my ass up ...

why does he have to charge that much anyway? He said he wants his music to be for everybody, but only the rich are allowed to see him live. Not everybody got $100 just for one evening of fun. If he decides to play in big venues with expensive lighshow, screens, dancing troup and all, well. You can pay if you need a lightshow. But he could do much better if he just brought his guitar & grand piano with him, set up and play. He has the talent to entertain people while keeping it "simple and real".

It's tiring to see that we carry the man over. We pay $100 for on cd of 40 minutes. He want's to be free from (con)tracts but we can pay big time for it...If that's how freedom looks like than get your ass back to a company and reach more people

People will pay. I don't know where this judgement that Europeans won't pay more comes from.
In the UK we pay twice as much as the US for everything. Prince is a living legend. He isn't a manufactured pop act. People expect to pay more for quality. I paid well over £40 for my New Power Soul ticket in 1998 and so did the rest of Wembley Arena which was full to capacity. People in the UK will easily pay £50/£60 per ticket, which is the pounds sterling equivalent of the US prices. People pay more than £50 to see Robbie Williams and he is just an overrated cabaret singer.
