Everyone knows the shocking announcement on this day. This was the day that many people feel derailed LIL MAN's career. June 7,1993 was the day he announced his name change to THAT symbol. But this is something to ponder. With eveyobody talking about hearing the music he has in his vaults, I wonder how many people remember that other announcement that was made. He released a press statement that PRINCE was retiring and that he would fulfill his contract with Warner Bros by releasing songs from his vault which was as the announcement said, at the time, 500 songs deep.

You know with all of the fans wanting to hear music from the vault. If LIL MAN would have fulfilled his contract by going into his legendary vault and releasing the music, we would have gotten 4 or 5 albums worth of vault material. Let's say he puts 13 tracks on one disc...THAT'S 52 TO 65 TRACKS WORTH OF VAULT MATERIAL RELEASED. Let's say this stuff is grade A, high quality music, that he released, then possibly 65 of those songs would have been out of the vaults.

How many out there have ever thought about this sceneario and/or remember when Prince made this statement in 1993..around the same time he made the name change switch? Hey... if you let some people tell it, he should have actually followed through on this plan. Since his music hasn't been the same since that day, thus symbolizing that June 7, 1993 is the day that PRINCE THE ARTIST really died...(LOL).

If Prince didn't do what he told the press that he was going to do well then its obvious that he never wanted any changes made to his career. Just because fans haven’t been told that the music comes from the vault that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is not a chance that it did come from the vault.
