Pick your Prince -Pissed off, Horny & Cocky vs Spiritual , Pure & Preachy! Was wondering about this the other day after listening to the truly poor effort of Heart Song. It's good when people preach by the way they live their lives and more by the words between the lines...so that kind of preachy is o.k. Spiritual and pure is always good too but so is honesty. Being caught between these worlds and being honest about it has a dynamic all it's own...it creates an interesting tension, like what you find in movies like Remains of the Day.
So I guess he should write from wherever he is at the time. If it's between the two, the honesty of that will ring true. You can be both pure and passionate. Hard to say. I think at different points he's gone too far in both directions. Not that bland is ever interesting, but you need to have a balance.

Not to say he's not passionate about feeling pure...
