Prince didn't actually write the song, in a thread a long time ago it was discovered his version just builds on an existing jingle written by someone else.

and I composed the uh huh song for diet pepsi in 1990...I wrote the tune and collborated on the lyrics with Al Merrin who worked for the agency involved.. Prince heard the tune with Ray singing it and then decided to his own"real" song...any ordinary google search would substantiate this ..or any inquiry to pepsico inc...thanks Peter | |
