Revolution Reunion PLEASE!!!! The best music of Prince's career was when he was rubbing elbows with the great influence of Wendy, Lisa & Fink. Does anyone agree?

a reunion photograph, maybe. a reunion encore performance perhaps. but not a reunion tour or a reunion album. that bird has flown.

Not the best music of his career, though definately some of my favorite music of his career.

After much thought and speculation, I have to disagree. The did not influence his music as much as most people think they did. They "helped" his music come along. I thinkl that because those were "the glory days" that they have a dear place in peoples hearts.
That said, I would not mind him finishing up whatever was recorded with them. I think an album of new material would be a disaster. WHat would it even sound like. His music has moved on and the girls sound is definitely evolved. Though I don't believe a revolution tour or anything like that would work, I think a tour with Wendy, Lisa and Shelia would/could work as I resepect them as musicians. But not a full revolution reunion. Christian Zombie Vampires

These topics are like asking Michael Jordan "hey can u go back a play w/your old college teammates?" After seeing the Family Jamm, it was good seeing the old gang" , I'd rather not spoil my 84-86 memories.

To be honest, I think a reunion of some sort, even if its only a few songs, with the original band would be so special for me, only because I was too young to see them and they were pretty much overshadowed by the huge success of the Revolution era.
Can you imagine? Seeing Prince, Dez and Andre on stage again?

Totally disagree.I'm so over The Revolution!

I'd love to see it. Actually what I'd really love to see is him collaborate w/ Lisa and Wendy, period. He has chemistry with W+L and Shelia the most out of all the people that he has worked with. You really get the sense that they are inhabiting the music in a real personal way. The same really goes for Mark Brown, Bobby and Matt, too.. I miss Mark, nobaody has played bass like that for Prince since...Fuck it, I want a full on Revolution reunion! Shelia can play congas/ percussion and bring in Matt Blistan and Eric Leeds. It would be the fucking JAM, and you all know it!

sure...
and why? because i would like prince to be amongst his peers...amongst folks who will tell him, "honey...that sounds too much like something else you've done...i dare you to take it up a notch"... prince has become to complacent with his own achievements...but i, and i only speak for myself, feel as though prince has more creative genius left in him yet explored... i refuse to be content with what i considered the boring status quo...if it works for you, great...but i dream of music that has yet to be discovered...and i believe prince can be the instrument to create it...musicology and 3121 are not worthy of prince's legacy. RIght. They challenged him more than others did...or were allowed to do once he got the NPG. I also think he liked them (W&L and Shelia) more than the other people he worked with and trusted their opinion. I do think a Revolution album would sell like hotcakes and a tour would be huge. Though we'd mostly get the older stuff and hits on a tour like that. Not that I'd mind hearing Mountains in concert. Christian Zombie Vampires

Yeah, I'm definitely with the idea of a one-off gig or two...I'd even watch an interview with all of them back together, reminiscing. That would be sweet. But part of the magic of those days ('83-'86) was the fact that not only were they all great musicians, they were all young, sex-mad, cocky, rebellious fuckers all out to prove something to everyone. That was what made them so explosive together. The Normal Whores Club

I would like to see him play with Sheila E Wendy Lisa mainly but I don't mind to have Brownmark or Dr. Fink along and they both are kickass musicians as well.

The best music of Prince's career was made when he was young, had something to prove. He wanted to show the world who he is. That, IMO, is the main reason for ten years of masterpieces.

im going to agree with you to an extent...part of it also had to do with him allowing himself to listen to outside forces though in order to achieve the level of status he desired... and thats why you have him collaborating (cough cough borrowing) from dr. fink, andre, dez and wendy & lisa... nowadays he has great musicians but it appears as if its more a "work for hire" scenerio...bland states as such in his thread here. Actually, I would live to see the Revolution re-unite WITHOUT Prince.
What do you think of that? A whole new Revolution album, without Prince. Songs written and performed by all the members (Wendy & Lisa, Dez, Andre Simone!). Think about it. "I know I hold you too tight, but I just can't seem to get close enough."

Yes. That was part of Prince's golden era. No. They were not what made Prince so great back then, IMHO. No, I don't want them to do a reunion tour. Sorry but, Raspberry Beret, Purple Rain, and Let's Go Crazy 20+ years down the line all pretty much sound the same regardless of what band he's using. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What I mean is, Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman gave a lot more to Prince's creative output to what they're given credit for. It was Prince's golden time.
