I remember when this came out, I thought it was bad then, and still do. The original is far better!

I think the song is okay. It introduces the song in a creative way to kids who weren't even born when the original came out.

I guess Warner Brothers still has rights and can let anybody cover it. I don't think that Prince would be into this.

What irks me, though, is that the video is off-message. The song is about a conflicted relationship he has with woman he really cares about -- they are lovers, he loves her, they argue a lot. Duh. To turn it into a vignette about Ginuwine being a player in a bed full of ho's. I mean, what? So stupid. Plus the production/direction of the video was piss-poor.

nope. He ain't even ask Prince. Ginuwine told him he was just paying tribute to him and showing his love of the song, and it was his way of thanking him for the music yada yada yada. Prince was like, "yeah, well you coulda just called me and told me that" instead of remaking the song. He did not want anybody re-doing his stuff at the time. Mainly because he was still in the heat of his battle with Warners.

The version of WDC from Romeo + Juliet is superior to Ginuwine's, imho. Does anyone know what P. thought of that version?
