First you have to consider a culture that needs movies like this. It's no different than what America did after the depression. For many it's the only escape they find in a day. But even in that context, I don't find it over the top at all. Especially since it has many traditional elements in it...from the dance, which they do well, to the music. But I guess over-the-top is a personal call.

I love those dances... sure they lend themselves to parody, but I think the amount and quality of some of these parodies is a sure sign of the industry's success.

I like the hybrid traditional/pop that's in the clip you selected as well as the more classical. Same for the music. So (back to the thread) if he did something along any of those lines it would be pretty cool.
