Extra Loveable - which album? I am listening to a Prince track called "Extra Loveable" a lot lately.
I'd like to know which album/era it is from? Sounds like Revolution-era Prince. Also, I love "You Gotta Shake Something" - 15 minute funk work-out. Which Prince era is that one from?

It's not on an official album. I think Extra Loveable is right between 1999 and Purple Rain. Dez is leaving the band (there's a line in Extra Loveable about that). [Edited 8/20/06 9:17am]

Good discussion of this song on Google newsgroups. http://groups.google.com/...953c283fca I'm also really enjoying "Do yourself a favour" and "Baby Go-Go" and "Purple Music" All odd tracks I've never heard before.

you probably filed it under "r" for "rape-songs" and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

There was gonna be an album inbetween '1999' and 'Purple Rain' in 1983 - this should have been on it!

OMG - I looooove "ExtraLoveable!!" It was a single that Prince never released, but should have. That song kicks my ass. I listen to this song a lot, and never tire of it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

Yweah, prince wrote it in 82 as an extra and it does include the line, "whatsa matter, don't you like my band". Apparently Dez had just discovered God at the same time and got sick of singing about incest and fellatio on stage. There was a Time song called 777 9311 (I may have the digits wrong) that was actually Dez's phone number at the time, another dig at him by Jamie Starr? 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

"777-9311" pre-dates Dez leaving the band. Dez allowed Prince to use his phone number for the song, but soon had to change his number when people started calling asking for Morris at all hours. The song did far better than anyone expected it to. He's told this story in a few interviews in the past. I only discovered this track about two weeks ago, and it's not been off my iPod since. Damn if it ain't funky. Prince shows some fantastic humour in it too: "Levi's new so you have to excuse him. He just bought a new car. He just bought a used car. Don't laugh". And "something for the white people" before breaking into a rock guitar solo. Love it!
