I have this feeling, the reason he is not touring or doing much press is because he is mad about the reaction longtime fans have at how bad they think the new album is. Or maybe, he actually has his own doubts about the quality of the album. Remember how abruptly he talked about another album in September. I think the fan reaction is bumming him out and he is reflecting on what he should do next, or not do. I may be right here.

He is finally having self doubts. This could be a revelation.

Ideally Prince should be doing whatever satisfies him creatively and makes him happy, and to hell with what the public thinks. Trouble is, he's not just making music for the hell of it, it's his job too so he needs to contiune to satisfy the client -the audience -if he wants to be succesful.

Not only that, but as humans we have a need for approval and acceptance from others of ourselves and of what we create. Some may like to tell themselves otherwise, that they don't care what people think, but we all do. And though some of the fans like to think of Prince as somehow more special or "above" mere mortals and their wants and needs, truth is he's not. Can't say I'd blame him if he felt kinda down because of the iffy reception the album received.


For what it's worth Prince (you mad lurker, you) I liked the album. It's not my fave, but I was Satisfied. (ha)

Prince ain't no fool... he'll go on tour again but not for another 12 months or so.

Prince has always done things his way-regardless of what any1 says or thinks.It's 1 of many things I really admire about him.So, I certainly hope u're wrong about this!

Prince lost interest in 3121 as soon as Universal's advance check cleared.

That could be one reason, but I do think there's more than one. It's a crying shame because to me this is a great album and I think it deserved more enthusiasm from him. If he was discouraged or whatever, I wish he'd stuck it out and fought for it.

The guy is going through a divorce. Maybe he just needs some time to himself at this moment.

fans are always going to believe he can do better... that's what make us his fans. we believe in him, we want more... currently i don't want to push him too much.

It takes time to heal from a divorce. Not everyone heals at the same pace.
I sincerely hope it isn't the negativistic fans.

Listening to Love makes me think Prince is above all of this. He already knows people try to put others down thinking it'll push them up. All he wants is a break from that type misery.
Sometimes there's lots of negativity here and he can turn and look the other way anytime he wants. Better to honor the man's talent and focus on that instead of knocking and kicking him for persoanl stuff we know little about.

It would have been nice to have time to absorb the CD to respond. an Artist must know that there are always favs on a CD that an individual may prefer or not & that is Universal for every Artist's CD's-so I don't see that making or breaking anyone-Esp who has produced sooooo Much FAB Music for a Lifetime-that he need not say no more!

Remember one of the reasons he and Warners fell out was his output. He always put out alot of music TOO FAST. Sometimes he should really ride a CD out before releasing new music.
