If Prince was gay, do you think he'd be writing the same kind of songs he does? Would he be as popular? I look at artists like Freddy Mercury who were brilliant, but not really "out." George Michael seems to still be quite popular. Dunno. What you think?

I honestly don't think Prince is gay at all. In fact I never did. When he acts all fem and stuff I just think that is his sense of humor. But to awnser your question ummm...the music...I can't imagine it being the same..Prince's music is pretty much all about women.

I think he'd be more flamboyant. And he wouldn't have gotten into all the JW crap.

If Prince was gay I think that his music would be the same. Sexual Orientation is a way of life and his music would be included in that life. It wouldn't make any difference .

It would have affected his popularity. for one thing, the whole 1999/Purple Rain success was based aroudn WASPS thinking they GOT black music. Secondly, if Prince was gay and, importantly, out he would be more settled than he actually is at the moment. This would make his less flamboyant - though, to be fair, he never needed help regards flamboyancy - and would make him less and threat and more a cabaret act, like Scissor Sisters - for example.

Be fair, even after Elton came out his work marginalised itself with regards its topic and now he's off writing operas and awful MOR albums.

If Prince was gay I believe he would have been out of the closet and in your face about it early on (the Dirty Mind shock era), with a "Yeah, I'm gay, you got a problem with that?" attitude. However, as spiritual as he later became, like Little Richard, he would likely have developed some conflect with being a gay man and what the Bible says about it.
