Adore & Miles Davis

I know this is something that has been bandied about for quite some time, but I think it warrants a return to active discourse. A music critic friend (retired now) who used to cover the New York jazz scene back in its heyday SWEARS that it's Miles playing trumpet on Adore. Now I realize that the official line has always been that Prince flew Eric and Bliss out to LA to add their horn parts to that song, but every time I listen to it, I'm more convinced than ever that Bliss is not playing on that track - he might have gone out to LA and played in the studio, but what he played didn't make it onto the finished product.

Thoughts?

Check out the book "The Last Miles", which is an incredible document of the end of Miles' career and life. There's a lot about his friendship with Prince in there, but there is nothing about Adore. The point is even made that Prince and Miles most likely didn't record anything in the studio that hasn't already been documented. The arguement being that neither Prince nor Miles spoke of any sessions together, and neither has any engineers. Someone would have to be working the machines, and word would have leaked.

Your question (a good one at that) reminds me of the rumors of Miles playing on Power Fantastic. I guess it's a great compliment to Matt Blistan's playing to draw such of comparison, and I think his performances on both Adore and Power Fantastic are beautiful.
