cafe de paris

I broke this cd/dvd-rom out the other day and it's been added to the album playlist ever since! The sound quality is soundboard (picture quality is also great)and the band is tight. This was the "come on" version of the npg. Chaka Khan and larry Graham are there and Dougie F-f-f-f-freshhhhh!!

Now,on the performance of "come on" dougie starts the whole thing off with an a cappella version of "the show" before the "come on" beat loop kicks in. The crowd participation is amazing as it sounds like everyone knows the words to this hip hop classic. They enthusiastically follow Dougie's every verbal instruction. It's so much fun to hear. The loop gives depth to the verbal play until P comes in and brings the band with him for the full funk onslaught .This is a really great performance.

So,"come on" ends and the crowd is "in a frenzy".P says ,"Thank you,London.."and they know it's over. However,it's not fully over;this cues up a beatbastic version of "mad"! Dougie embellishes "mad" with more of his beatbox skills .There is even interplay between the beatbox and the beat from kirky j.The band plays a funky version of the song with some nice rhythm guitar licks until the whole thing explodes to an end!One of the more exciting endings to a concert I've heard!

I highly recommend Cafe de Paris to P fans. I think casual fans may like this,as well, but not as much as a regular P fans. It's not hit-heavy enough and more of an r&b/blues thang. It is hot, though!
