Just 4 the singers here

Have U ever tried tried 2 do the things Prince does with his voice?

Does it hurt?

Like the end of "Kiss" and "Tamborine"

Or how about singing "It" Pretty rough huh?

Can U sing "Damn U" like him?

Someone previously brought up singing "Do U Lie" Incredible vocal work!!! Its all over the place. I love it!

I come pretty darn close on most of these, but let me say, the man is unbelievable!

How about U?

The hardest note to hit in a Prince song (Well for me anyway) is the note at the end of TMBGITW. Also Rosie Gaines vocals at the end of D&P. There is one note on each of these that I just can't quite reach.

I have tried all the things he does with his voice. I have done all of Kiss before without cracking a note.(It helps that I'm already a Soprano). Even as hard as I try, there are some ones that I don't attempt. My favorites to sing high are Kiss and The Beautiful ones. But, Nothing compares to him.(no pun intended)!!
I'm back!!!!!!!

Actually, academically speaking his technique is as bad as it gets! It's just another case of creative abuse of vocal c(h)ords that have created his distinctive vocal style. To me he actually sounds a bit like trumpet, you know?

I only have a problem with the deep bass vocals... otherwise, I'm pretty cool with what he does vocally.

I knew the first time I heard Darlin' Nikki at the tender age of 5, that I was going to sing like Prince. I wanted to sing ever since. (Thanks Mom!!)

I can hit evey note he can and then some.,But for the most part I like to mimick him for people.

For my Lovers, however I sing my own mixes of his Sexiest.

They like when I Do IT my way.

Yep. I do it all the time. I have a voice synth that helps sometimes too.

Peace,

Oh my goodness so funny you should ask this question I was just telling someone (in an orgnote ) how I actually do a Prince set. I sing live jazz and R&B in NYC. One of my keyboard players played for Prince and Taja Seville a few years back at the park around Prince's birthday. I find the funnest song for me to do is Circle of Amour. Of course I do all the classic R&B stuff. I even call out On the one!
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.
