In one brief sentence, state why. I don't want any proselytizing, nonsense BS. ONE sentence. Nail it down to BRIEF. (this is based on response from prev. forum, don't debate topic)) I like (most of) it! 'A pillow covered in all our tears'

Except for it never was a hypothetical. The thread title assumnes that orgers dislike Prince's music in the last 10 years. It's probably true for some, but certainly not true for all. It would be more interesting to Poll the Orgers - See what majority and minority there are that fit the Question? Reasons?
1. We all grow up n different Media environments, Musical tastes do tend to shift through different Generations. 2. People do change as they grow older and there tastes change with them. This isn't a bad thing, I still love Prince's work, but just not as enthusiastic as 10+ years ago. 3. When something is "New" it is always exciting, but then can become familiar and eventually mediocre. Again not bad, just the way things go. So, do all the Long termers really think Prince sucked over the last 10 years? Do all the younger Orgers enjoy the last 10 years more purely because they are younger and "Fresher" with Princes Music? It is all individual, I love Emancipation, yet a lot of Folk here don't. I don't enjoy the Black Album, but a lot of People here do etc. And that's all I am saying. People have different tastes for many reasons. That's great and fine. However, just because you don't like something means that it has no value. Many people seem to give such cut and dry answers that sum up to "I don't like Prince's new music. Therefore, Prince has lost his talent." It's simply not true-just an opinion. [b]The entire thread is based on the false assumption that every orger dislikes Prince's music in the past 10 years. [/b] No one has said that. All that's been said is that the majority think his music has gone downhill. We all know some folks disagree with that, but we're trying to explain why we feel the way we do.

You can always choose not to respond in this "pointless argument". There is no need to be rude. If you are still going to bless me with your time, please refresh my memory. What are you trying to convince me of? That you and everyone else in the world thinks Prince has lost it artistically? Correct me if I am wrong. Exactly. It's not how everyone else sees things it's how you see/hear things. How everyone else thinks/feels about Prince. And how you or your mother think/feel about Prince are not always the same. The Musicology Tour; another red herring. The Rolling Stones create a massive buzz every time they tour. That doesn't mean people give a damn about their latest albums. We weren't talking exclusively about albums. You told me that everyone but Prince nerds think he "has lost it". The millions that went to the Musicology tour in droves suggests otherwise. They may not give a damn about Prince's latest album but their asses were sure filling up seats on the tour. Again, your viewpoint is not universal. [Edited 8/14/06 12:21pm] I have totally given up. You completely miss the points again and again. Life is way too short for this. I'll just set you straight on that Musicology scam before I leave you. People bought Batman and those sales were registered as album sales. In Musicogy's case, people bought concert tickets, got a bonus CD and those were falsely registered as album sales. That's not marketing, that's a scam.

[Edited 8/14/06 12:25pm] I just noticed your bullshit attempt to refute the sales figures point. Can't let that go unchallenged. Firstly, the Emancipation figures were artificially distorted by counting each sale as 3 sales because it was a triple album. I've already explained about the Musicology scam. Secondly, those aren't international sales figures. You surely can't think Emancipation sold as well as D&P for godsakes? Use your common sense. There must be some neutral observers here who are reading these posts. Please step in and give this guy a reality check for me, cos I can't be bothered anymore.

Listen, I countered your argument point by point. Time and again, you failed to address most of the points I brought up. You tried to convince me that the rest of the world thinks like you and that Prince has lost it. I simply tried to point out that you viewpoint isn't necessarily the majority. It's just your opinion. Shit, you called me out on Prince's album sales and I gave you facts proving you were wrong. Easy to gloss over it right? As far as Musicology goes. The tour was the highest attended of the year. That speaks volumes to how the public feels about Prince. Now, if you wanna call the CD give away a "scam" go ahead. I call it marketing and in no way is it more shrewd than Prince putting a giant Bat Logo on the front of his CD to boost sales. Yeah, it was a soundtrack, but it was mostly the next Prince album. Have fun tooling around on a fansite for a musician that you don't enjoy. "New Power slide...."

Unless those subtract from US sales figures you are still wrong. The RIAA is the gospel on albums sold in the US. An album sold is an album sold. Did Sign O the Times sell less because it was a double album? Same with 1999 right? Again, you are the one hung up on album sales. I maintain that it doesn't matter. But you wanted the numbers. Do you own research and prove me wrong. [Edited 8/14/06 12:52pm] "New Power slide...."

Even his experimental stuff sound safe. It lacks the same emotional punch. The screaming at the end of The Beautiful Ones sounds terrific and sincere compaired to the screaming at the end of "The Dance". It's just not Fa-Yah, it's just not Fa-Yah.

Why would anyone be on a website dedicated to an artist that they haven't liked musically for the past 10 years?
I haven't been into MJ since Dangerous. Would it make sense for me to join a MJ fansite and bitch about how he has lost it.

This whole thread has left me shaking my head. If Prince's music was continually missing the mark for me, you bet your ass I would be gone. Where exactly have you been?????
This forum was based on a PREVIOUS forum orgers responded to. The majority prefer his older music (pre 1996). I initiated this thread to get some idea of WHY. So you did a poll of every orger and found out that the majority prefers Prince pre 1996? Or are you just going off of the general complaints of people? You are asking about a 10year slice of music vs. the almost 20years of music before it do you think that has anything to do with it? There are no false assumptions except yours. People are entitled to their opinions. I,m not under the impression fans completely dislike P's music the past 10 years. Excuse me--reread the words of yours that I italicized. Is the title of your thread "Why orgers dislike Prince's music in the past 10 years"? Yes, it is. [Edited 8/14/06 18:11pm] "New Power slide...."

[Edited 8/14/06 18:11pm] If I may add with the last statement, the name of this thread or better yet the question seems very loaded as if EVERYONE who comes here feels that way and that's so not true. There are plenty that lurk and have no desire to post anything here who don't feel this way and even vice versa but it doesn't represent the whole. IMHO, the title needs to be reworded.
