Actually, what I found truly shocking was his Oprah interview. She asked some very prying questions, and he actually answered them! He talked about his relationship with his dad, being made fun of as a child, and his sexuality. I was surprised that he was comfortable enough with Oprah to talk about those things.

Good shocking - the fact that he opened up the sound checks to NPGMC members, teh fact that some of his older stuff can be forgotten and rediscovered do beautifuly in his huge back catalogue

Bad shocking - his total and utter arrogance at a time when his career was/is in the pits, the way NPGMC was allowed to be run (whether he had a hand in teh day to day running or not the NPGMC WAS him and he WAS NPGMC), his cant be arsed attitude to his music in recent years.

At what point did he REALLY becoem bad shocking for me....hmmmm, perhaps when NPGMC opened as it was a barrier to hide behind for him

The part in Alex Hahn's book about Jesse being physically restrained by the bandmembers (Prince's orders) Just really shocked me... Don't know if it's true or not... but I couldn't see Prince the same way after reading that.

At Paisley Park Studios on Saturday, November 11, 1995, Mayte is sitting on stage next to Prince wearing a white dress and red four inch heels and that diamond ring on her left hand nearly blinded my ass. I said out loud, "What the F! is that?!!!!"

I knew what it was for, but the other women around me said, "He always give his women diamond rings." Three months and four days later, my WTF predictions became a reality.

Mayte just did the most damage, to his carrer. Everything that changed for the worse in the 90's happened when she was around. He stopped singing about sex (he still does,but not like the80's) ,she was EVERYWHERE, like those damn "HEAD ON" commercials.

Prince has had his share of WTF moments when he veered left of what this one or that one thought was right. Sometimes he went off the cliff. However, I have to admit that viewed in its entirety, it is one of the things that makes him unique in Pop music. He has never really played it safe. Sometimes I am shocked that he has achieved the level of success that he has, then I am reminded that you cannot deny his amazing, unequaled talent. Although in today's cess pool of talentless wonders it might be a different story.

Still something about Prince remains more cult hero than superstar. Most of the big names have played it safe, dialing into popular trends to stay on the charts and in the news. Prince has hit and miss so many times, that we know that he knows how to do both well. We just never know which one he will do.

I appreciate that he isn't a cookie cutter artist. You really never know what he is going to do. He has the most diverse body of work that I have ever heard. I have my iPod on shuffle and it just amazes me - the number of genres that he's traversed.

The name change was the most shocking thing 4 me,and mayb the Lovesexy album cover-cum 2 think of it,the cover was more like an xciting surprise rather than a shock. Just 1 of many things that I love about Prince-never knowing what 2 xpect!

Refused to sing on American Music Awards 1995 and instead sucking on a lollipop. I was like WTF???

Seriously, all joking aside. This is the most shocking thing I've ever seen Prince do. That 1 moment where my jaw just hit the floor was his per4mance on "American Idol". I've never seen him do a single thing more out of character than that. I would have put money on that not happening.
