Please Re-Master Your CDs!

Am I the only person growing increasingly frustrated that the Prince back catalogue is not being re-mastered for CD by Warners?

I buy lots of re-mastered jazz CDs, many of which have been recorded in the 50's and 60's, and they sound absoultely incredible. When played through a good hi-fi system the music jumps out at you and makes you feel like the players are in the room with you.

I am not quite sure about the legal side of things but David Bowie re-mastered his entire back catalogue and distributed it through a new record company. Copyright even shifted back to him and he then licenses the recordings to whomever he chooses. From what I understand, if you create a new master(the finished version they use to make the CDs from) then it will be yours again and not the property of the old label as they own the "original master".

Well what do you guys think?

Buy mini disc. Re-master yer own cd's.
Sign O The Times fits on one 80 minute MD.
MD is nice enough to have enuf room for a Prince album (prior the CD era) AND the b-sides and the extended versions...
Fun to do too!

I buy re-mastered CDs all the time, with bonus tracks, detailed liner notes, rare photos, song lyrics, remixes and other goodies. It pisses me off that, after all these years,I am forced to listen to Prince CDs that have inferior sound!

In recent years, artists like Madonna,Michael Jackson,Stevie Wonder,Santana, and others have all had their old CDs remastered. It's obvious that Prince's never-ending feud with Warners means that we will NOT get re-mastered CDs.What a crying shame!

I think Prince should rush and re-master all his CD catalogue immediately. Maybe somebody should tell him that right now it is 80's revival time!!!

Paisley Park has already stated that all of the albums have already been remastered!

But Prince is not going to release them until he once again owns the masters. If I am not mistaken, the first master, ie For You, will return to him next year. So we may not see some remastered albums for a very long time!
