3 cd's in 5 months?

I'm hoping we get some kick ass cd's to finish out the year. A live Celebration cd would be great, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think everybody keeps forgetting that NPGMC started their year in February. So that means that we still have 6 months left including August. wave

I keep getting emails about bootlegs out there (no-names) including a 12 cd set of this years celebration...all i can think is what is P doing...here's the perfect opportunity 2 close the bootleggers down...release xenophopia/1 night alone cd live!! or something similar...I ain't gonna pay the bootleggers if i don't have 2 ... but then I think...well what has P got up his sleeve...I guess we'll find out soon enough! Also when is the NPG Store gonna 'blow up'?...that place hasn't changed much at all in the last year or so...come on P - as u wrote (4 The Time) Release It! Do u even care that we r here...I got a busy schedule 2 u know...I got a family and I got other interests 2 ...so if u don't keep us interested - maybe we'll meet in the future...maybe we won't...just keep me interested my friend thats all I ask...u can release anything u want at any time...or can u? how about a Celebration 2002 or 1NA live dvd? 2 much 2 ask?

I can't stand all this discussion. Everybody seems to be afraid not to get 3 CD's in 6 months to come. Maybe he will send 3 CD's at Dec. 31, or Jan. 15 or Nov. 2nd.
Let's keep cool and wait until the end of this NPGMC year. Then we can decide whether to go on or not. BTW it is funny to read that we assume he is so stupid to disappoint the fams that much so that they would leave NPGMC... Come on he has proven that he not only is a great musician, but he knows how to run the business as well. And even though we are talking about art, it is also about the 100 bucks from each one of us. I doubt that he doesn't care about that money...
Peace

Why is there need speculation? Don't we already know from that overpriced tour program the exact titles of the CDs we're getting? Don't we know from the celebration what the Xenophobia album is made up of? Don't we know what the very best prince songs are (at least within reason)? Sure, there's plenty of room for frustration - I still haven't really heard "what freedom sounds like," but if we know what we're getting, all we have to worry about now is when we're getting it.

There's no doubt he is a great musician, but he definitely has not demonstrated great business sense. Look at what his career has done since he got rid of Ruffalo/Carvolli/Fargnoli or whatever their names were. Ever since they left he's been so self-adsorbed that music execs can't deal with him (and these guys are used to dealing with personalities from Britney to Whitney to Tommy Lee). When the Internet rolled around, look how Prince responded: sat on his ass while fans created things like hte PML and latter the PPML and prince.org. Then he realizes this Internet thing isn't going away so he hires a fan from Chicago to whip up a web site and a couple of years later tries to come up with a Internet-based fan club. Even if Prince just happened to get lucky and Sam is a great e-music business genius, I doubt he has any say in what happens with NPGMC. It's just another of Prince's little projects and Sam ends up like the Eric Leeds sitting around waiting for Prince to call at 3am one day and say, come to work I've got something for you to do.

So far, the best thing about being an NPGMC member this year is that it is $100 I didn't invest in the stock market! All I have so far is one very short CD with tracks swept up off the floor of Studio A that were already a year old by the time I got them.

One hand love the other
So much on me

Born stubborn me
Will always be
Before you count
One two three
I will have grown my own private branch
Of this tree

You gardener
You discipliner
Domestically
I can obey all of your rules
And still be, be

I never thought I would compromise
I never thought I would compromise
I never thought I would compromise

Let's unite tonight
We shouldn't fight
Embrace you tight
Let's unite tonight

I thrive best hermit style
With a beard and a pipe
And a parrot on each side
But now I can't do this without you

I never thought I would compromise
I never thought I would compromise
I never thought I would compromise

Let's unite tonight
We shouldn't fight
Embrace you tight
Let's unite tonight

One hand love the other
So much on me

Let's unite tonight
We shouldn't fight
Embrace you tight
Let's unite tonight

Let's unite tonight
We shouldn't fight
Embrace you tight
Let's
Ooohhh ooohh

Unison
Unison
Unison

Irish, tell me ONCE AND FOR ALL: Why do you come to this site? Why do you bother coming if Prince, the main focus of this place, irritates you so much?

I accept your opinion, but I cannot agree with it. I think that he's done far more than other musicians. I haven't seen any official fan site from other musicians that keeps so close to the fans. Also I do not know about a Music Club from other artists. Still I also do not have any doubt that he knows how to run the business. If you look back at his history he left WB (e.g.) because they were ruling what songs should be released or not, and furthermore they kept a big portion of the cake. Nowadays he can decide what to release and get almost 100% of the cake. To me it looks like he is doing the right thing, from his point of view. Maybe his records sell less in terms of quantity, but the money that comes in can't be too bad. If it were 1988 you surely won't be able to walk around paisley park and have listening session, workshops, etc. So he's getting very close to his fams today. And I really hate to say it, but I do not see Whitney, Britney, Tommy Lee, Eminem, etc. as real musicians. What are they doing? Ok, they make big money, they hit the charts. But are they producing a record and taking the risk that it won't be a big seller? Nope! The execs won't let them. The execs tell them what to do, how to behave, because they have done trillions or market researches saying that a "rude guy" like Eminem is what people want today. Keep your eyes open! The trendscouts are everywhere. The execs decide what will be a hit or not. They spend huge money on promoting the records until the consumer gives up, runs to the shop and gets the record to shelf it after listening to it 2 times. I want music from someone who is standing behind it. I don't want to buy hits just because an Harvard Business Master Degree sucker is telling me so.

Peace, 2 y'all
