Purple Guitar Speaker Cabinet for Prince

Purple Cab, Honey Front and Back, and hand made speakers.

When I first came on the org I asked about Prince's favorite color, and this is why. We have been working on this for the past two years and finally finished it this weekend. What do you guys think? Do you think he will like it?

Thank you very much.

Nothing was "ordered".

This is a one of a kind speaker cabinet made specifically for his guitar tone.

No replica's have been nor will be made of this unless for Prince himself.

This is just for him exclusively.

That is funny, there is no payment envolved.

That is why it took 2 years to get together.

We worked this project between our customers and the little free time we get. My husband spent his Sunday morning (yesterday) finishing it and taking the pictures.

This was done because of the Musicology tour on August 3, 2004 in Chicago.

We were seated Section 10 Row 5 Seats 3&4, and I had a chance to dance on stage with Morris Day and the Time. That was a night I will never forget. We even got the tickets on ebay because I had no idea that the NPGMC even existed!!!

A great happenstance in life for both of us.

This is our Thank You to Prince. He has a great talent to move people.

So, you're just sending this gift to Prince off your own back?

I can understand wanting to thank Prince for a great night out, but don't you think a simple card would be adequate?! It's kind of scary fanatical to spend 2 years putting together a speaker cabinet, don't you think? There's always the possibility that Prince will receive the gift personally and really appreciate it, but there's just as much chance that one of his executives will deal with this large parcel and just dump it in some room never to be used. Wouldn't it be more sensible to first send a card asking about the possibility of sending a larger gift? If you don't even get a reply to that, there would hardly be any point in sending the rest. A bit like testing whether you can fly by jumping off a small hill first rather than a 10 story building...

Yes, with no advertisment. no strings attatched

I can understand wanting to thank Prince for a great night out, but don't you think a simple card would be adequate?!

No, I am a guitar player, of 22 years, with education, that night evolved my insight on guitar playing by 10 years. a card could never capture THAT.

It's kind of scary fanatical to spend 2 years putting together a speaker cabinet, don't you think?

No, because we have been doing this 16 hours a day for 3 years, its what we do. We are not fanatical, I am into tone, big, beautifull tone, so i made some for him. Those speakers were designed and made by George Schulz, which if you look into him you will see he as well as I, do nothing fanatical for anyone. It took 2 years because we fit it in between many many customer orders.

There's always the possibility that Prince will receive the gift personally and really appreciate it, but there's just as much chance that one of his executives will deal with this large parcel and just dump it in some room never to be used.

Mr Nelson is well known for staying grounded with his fans through the internet, though this is not fanatical, we thought, it would be cool to share with the orgers and , to get the pics over to him.

Wouldn't it be more sensible to first send a card asking about the possibility of sending a larger gift?

Its 2006, snail mail,,,,?
Not my style, sending cards about "what we may have " is a tease and a line of BS, we waited until it was done and here it is, now he and everyone else know, its his , its done and he can have it now, no post cards or lengthly letters.

If you don't even get a reply to that, there would hardly be any point in sending the rest. A bit like testing whether you can fly by jumping off a small hill first rather than a 10 story building...

Well considering I am the one who already jumped off a few buildings for these cabs a few years ago, I know they work, they sound the best and we have the credibility to back it up, if he or someone from his group contacts us for delivery of the cab, it will be sent the same day, no strings and the information obtained will be totally checked and kept confidential.

This is not the first time we have done this, or the last, just the first for Mr Nelson.
Its just about guitar tone, not connecting, not freebies, not anything but guitar.

Isn't saying 'Do what u do' also making a comment about how someone else shoud do their thang?!

This is a discussion site. I think it is entirely within the boundary of this site to discuss what is posted. I simply was offering some sensible logical advice. Prince is a busy man, clearly the idea he reads every bit of fan-mail personally is highly unlikely; I admit some speakers turning up on your doorstep is a bit harder to ignore, but will he really plug his guitar in to discover they are 'the best'? Isn't there the possibility he will still think there are strings attached, perhaps that you are trying to use him for promotional purposes, no matter how hard you try to convince him otherwise?

Put it this way, are you going to put a return address on the package, that way if he doesn't want them he can return them at least? Or would you rather not accept the possibility that he might 'reject' the gift?

All I say, it sounds a bit fanatical, and one thing about fanatics is they never realise they are fanatics, that is for other people to decide.

the "beige" you speak of is natural blonde wood. I wouldn't paint that.

I'll start by saying that the speakers are quite nice and you can tell a lot of love and pride went into making them, great job! However, blindly sending them to Prince is really just asking to get your feelings hurt.

Before Prince could ever lay his eyes on them, some minion would get it first and

A. Think it's a bomb and send the feds after you.

B. Think it's set-up from CJ and send his lawyers after you.

or

C. Think it's some sort of scam and send the Post Master General after you.

Do yourself a favor and find out from the folks at Paisley Park what the proper channels for sending Prince a gift are before you put all that hard work to waste.
