If you were in a postion to save the life of a loved one in exchange for your life would you do it without hesitating? Who would you die for?...Would you save the life of a total stranger in exchange for yours if it came down to it?

No one. There in lies the joke. If you are honest with yourself there are TOPS 10 people you'd be willing to die for. (and even then it'd be stretch for you to do it) For me there are less. Those who say differently are lying. Because if everyone was willing to make that ultimate sacrifice then why is there war? Dying for a cause, or for a stranger is a construction given to us so that is given to us by people who are above us because it protects them. Think about it. If you die for America, for example, who are you protecting? It's just another scam. "I don't wanna be a messiah, messiahs die young."

All I can say is that. . . .you never KNOW until you are IN the situation.
I think that most people would not hesitate to help save someones life, even if they didn't know that person. You generally don't realize that it is life threatening situation until it's over. My first instinct is to help. If someone is in immediate physical danger, I am pretty sure I would just jump in and do whatever I could.
As far as having a concious option. . .that is a totally different ball of wax. It would depend on who it is and what good it would do.
