You're right. I actually picked up a copy of ATWIAD and forgot about it. I think that was the first time he used it, but I have not seen it in years.

Okay...just looked at the Batman soundtrack and there is a "WB" in black and yellow on it...I do not see the paisley park image. Wow... I must have lots of time on my hands. I really need to get some housework done... "Pussycat, pussycat whr4 art thou puppy??"

It's the original logo for Paisley Park Records.
It first appeared on the 'Around The World In A Day' album back in '85, and continued to be used up to and including 'Lovesexy'. The 'Batman' soundtrack was released under a separate deal, and appeared on Warner Bros. Records. However, the Paisley Park logo was changed when 'Graffiti Bridge' was released, and the paisley-shaped logo was dropped. Paisley Park Records (using the new logo) continued up until 1993, at which point the label folded. The 'Hits' collections were the final Prince releases on that label. At that point Prince started a new label: NPG Records, through which he's released all his subsequent albums, apart from the few post-split WB releases which simply appeared on Warner Bros. Records.

I believe the Paisley Park logo was first used on the original first edition double VHS cassette concert of 'Prince and the Revolution-Live' from the Purple Rain tour in March 1985.

Thanks for the info! Just out of curiousity does anyone have a pic of the new paisley logo before it was dropped altogether?

quite correct, the Paisley Park logo does appear on the 'Prince and Revolution Live' VHS. But I'm pretty sure it was actually released after Around The World In A Day. (It was only broadcast live on TV 4 weeks before ATWIAD was released, and I'm sure it took more than 4 weeks to make it onto the shelves) [Edited 7/31/06 15:09pm]

I think it came out in April or May 1985. My mate has an original copy with the card sleeves. I might be mistaken but I think it has the Paisley Park logo on it.
