The Work: Where to we Begin? In the movies John Q and As Good As It Gets we see two examples of children, from working class families, not receiving aggressive enough treatment in order to properly diagnose their illness, resulting in life threatening situations. And let's face it, not everyone who has been mistreated by the Healthcare industry will get a rich benefactor to take care of their child's health issues, nor is taking a hospital ER hostage the best option. There are real life situations every day where parents work hard to provide for their children and when illness happens the Healthcare industry drops the ball!
"Look aound and tell me ur Sun is Risen When ur brothers and sisters r in the Fall What is left to give when r work is done? What do we own besides the right 2 crawl? C we're living in a system that the devil designed And suffering from this devil's most heinous crime He's tried 2 keep us from the reason that we were born That is to be the living truth in human 4m" --from THE WORK by Prince We are supposed to be living in the best country in the world yet we let our own children die or live sickly lives, unless they come from families with money! And since Healthcare insurance is "big business" there is a possibility that some of them are involved in "book cooking" practices that, when exposed, could leave many people without any insurace AND out of a great deal of money. How can we "WORK" Together to equalize the healthcare system? What are the obstacles we have to overcome? "This work is not an easy task But this is the work we must do 4 Revelation 2 come to pass This work is the kind that turns ur back on the Ruling Class By putting them in their place just like the past Nothing can stop us Whatever's in r way We got 2 go thru it 2 get 2 it I heard somebody say, 'I'm willing 2 do The Work Willing to 2 what I gotta do I'm willing 2 do The Work Tell me now - what about u?' Thank u" -- from THE WORK by Prince ~~~~~~~~~~~

How can we do the work to ensure KFC goes back to offering real chicken on its menu?

Not funny, IrishEcho. And considering the source, not an overly surprising reply! ~~~~~~~~~~~

Bringing Down Strongholds
By the meekness and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you --- I, Paul, who am "timid" when face to face with you, but "bold" when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have the divine power to demolish strongholds. II Corinthians 10:1-4(NIV) ~~~~~~~~~~~

Not funny, IrishEcho. And considering the source, not an overly surprising reply! Like I really care about your opinion. Prince wasn't singing about healthcare you witless nimrod, so take your agenda home with you & burn your house down. I notice that you are trying to bring this thread back from the dead, after no one replied to it aside from me in 3 days...just let it go.

I love The Work. Every time I hear it on my discman, it's like an energy beam hits my body and recharges my batteries. Sure, it's totally JB, but that's the point. Ever notice how when white country singers quote the classic country tunes or arrangements/sounds, critics are like "Oh see... Another wonderful Johnny Cash reference!", but if a black artist does it, it's "There he goes again, totally robbing JB!" Well I love how Prince can channel any of his influences into a kick-ass song, and The Work fits the bill -- the screams, the noises, the explosive guitar and drums... I it.

I don't know that song. I'm not allowed to Prince's Music, but I know to do work!

The Work is clearly about Prince's religious beliefs, since "going door to door" is called "The Work" by JW. Its lyrics are broad enough to let the listener fit in whatever seems to be an urgent collective matter Nothing wrong with using that song differently in your context... just like What's Going On was really about the vietnam era, but any other large theme like 9/11 can be a substitute... though the charity single of that song was AWFUL!

If I want to try to stir up some positive responses about Important collective issue I have that right. We have an forum here with people from all over the world and the country who have knowledge of various types of healthcare systems - some of which may work better than those in the U.S. And I'll bring up the topic as often as I feel necessary to try and effect a positive change. None of us is immune from sickness. If you don't like the thread, then don't respond! ~~~~~~~~~~~
