Unfortunatly some ppl can not handle freedom.

I agree with that statement. People don't realize this but you have the right to freedom of speech just as long as it doesn't infringe upon the rights of others. I think this site can be offensive at times. Yeah this is America and all but even in America you don't have the right to say something if it causes harm to another human being. I think there is definitely a way for us to discuss things without posting things that make others uncomfortable if we are all adults. I don't mind the jokes but sometimes it does go too far.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

I agree. I'm not even a religious person, but I'm annoyed by all the anti-Jesus threads, just designed to shock people. I'm tired of visiting "Prince".org to find all the threads on the main page have nothing to do with Prince. Sure I could navigate my way in for more purple content, but it still is a major turn off.

Ben and Matt worked extremely hard to bring a new and improved org to us,however the content of it lately is disgusting.

I think that the OLD org should be brought back. In the sense that news worthy threads/topics related to Prince and his work had to be sent in to moderators and be approved before being posted. The org members did not have the ability to create new threads about ANY subject matter.

It's a shame that this privelge is being abused. Please don't retort by saying that people should be allowed to say whatever they want. A lot of what is posted on the org is disturbing to some and very objectionable.

You know... I agree that the org sucks lately, but I also think that the old org wasn't as positive as many seem to think it was. I clearly remember there was also a lot of extremely negative stuff posted there.

But because that could only be done on the news boards it wasn't as obvious as it is now... Now you go to the discussion forums and you see titles of threads that disgust you... and I can understand that, but negativity and the display of it were already here before version 2. (the 'new' org)

because the site is different now, it becomes more clear that there are many opposite ways of thinking and acting in here. Instead of wishing that the forums would go down, I think "we" (the orgers posting and reading) should be trying to reconsider our actions a bit more often and try to keep this site open for as many as possible by staying reasonable towards eachother.
Not just the 'positive' (whatever that truly means in anyones eyes) and not just the 'negative' (whatever that also may truly mean if anyones eyes)

It takes people of all kinds to create a succesfull discussion board/ community thing... but it also takes consideration for eachothers wishes and the need to agree to disagree, as well as the need to agree when it's time to stop when things get out of hand.
You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

i have to agree with the fact that some of the topics have been like what?
the very rougeish (hope i spelled that correctly but i think we know what i mean) topics have to be trashed. i dont think that the freedom of it should be taken away though like not just about Prince. people are here to get to know others. other topics is what makes up the minds of other people. get to know them better by some of the opinions expressed. i think maybe it should just be monitered to a degree of any overly sexual topics or hateful ones . i still enjoy some of the off the wall funny things that some have come up with. quite clever some of you out there. it is refreshing.
i like the org.

I have been thinking this for a long time as well. The org was always the place to visit and catch up on Prince news and be able to have some good conversations. Sure there was also some bickering and nonsense going on but not as much as there is now.
I appreciate Matt & Bens work but it is a shame that a few are spoiling the place.

I agree. We should go back to the old org. What is missing is the reason people used to come here and NOT alt.music.prince. AMP has always been a freewheelin' mud puddle of mindless threads mixed in with a couple useful ones, which is fine if that is what you want. But p.org had a different vibe and was more useful with it's updated news everyday. Now it has degenerated into AMP with fancier dressing. I used to come here to find out even the tiniest bit of Prince news going on somewhere in the world every day. Now I can't waste my time sifting thru nasty thread after nasty thread with endless posts by the same 20 people writing useless nonsense in every single thread (I blame the current high unemployment rate for that one). Let's go back to the time when you could only post under news threads. Do we really need to know some idiot's opinion on Jesus' fav sexual position? I think not.

- I agree 100%...in fact, this was the thread I wanted to do for a long time...thanks for doing that for me
The new org is a lot better in design, org notes, etc. But letting people open their threads was usually a disaster, because most Prince orgers are still teenagers.
If I was Ben or Matt, I would keep the design, org notes, avatars, etc. But I would close all the forums, or moderate them.

Starting own threads perhaps...? You can do that on AMP.

- Yeah, but the AMP people seem to be more mature

In the OLD org, you still had the flame wars.

- True, but we had DISCUSSIONS, not teenage masturbation. Even with the orgers that I disagreed, I respected most of them because they knew what they were talking about. Joey Coco and Bart are more interesting than lots of new orgers.

Hmm, perhaps the best Prince site would be where there was only news reported n random comments were posted (after review)by those people who actually added something.

You are so right. The "on topic" threads crap out within an hour most time. People like the types of threads that get started here. The news threads all have like one post on them. People complain, but they don't respond to threads about Prince anyway.

I don't think going back to the old org is the answer. The only way to stop poeple putting up siily topics would be for all new topics to go through Ben or Matt before going up on the site. This would mean it would probably take 24 hours before a topic appears, and it all depends if the guys would really want to do this, but it would finally stop all this.

- True...but the difference is that on the old org, there were less threads to comment, because they were limited to the current news. Usually people developed something INSIDE the thread. Sometimes, somebody developed another subject inside the thread, but it was more organized IMO

The reason the "off topic" threads get the most responses is because it's the SAME PEOPLE posting endlessly on those threads. You go to one of them and you see the same names over and over. If you want to turn the site over to this small group of people and just forget the pretense of being a Prince site, then go for it. But if you want to have "the best Prince site online" then you need to drop the dead weight. It's embarassing for the site and a waste of time for a real Prince fan.

And how disturbing it is when something that should have been posted under "prince.org site discussion" gets posted under "Prince: Music and More ".

You're part of the problem also.

I say just redesign the main page so the News really is the main prominent item and the reason for the sites existence, which I think was it's original purpose. All the Prince NEWS, good and bad, small and tall.

I really would rather read the latest and freshest news.

Then narrow the discussion boards to exclusive Prince posts. No vagueness in the discussion board names like "Prince: Music and More"where people just assume "more" means ANYTHING else gets discussed.

Then monitor them and make them stick to the rules if not, DELETE THE THREAD right then and there, no questions, no bs, no complaining.

But above all, really, is create a new registration form/process where non-Prince fans would be easily weeded out. Required to fill out ALL Prince questions and stuff pertaining to the users Prince interest.

No unfinished profiles, no non-Prince related avatars, no bs, no discussion board crashers.

Then a tight and strict rules the user agrees to.

Why, well, as you see people are using the threads for quasi-chats. Calling out other peoples org names in the thread titles and posting them in Prince Music discussion boards.

No stupidity, if not, buh buy and don't think we won't figure out who you are once you re-register.

You place the thread in the wrong place/section, it gets deleted. No toleration of laziness or lack of intelligence. Prince.org is NOT ABOUT U. Period.

I imagine what other people who really just are curious of Prince and maybe want to become fans, and want to learn about Prince, find the org and then discover a bunch of idiots fucking around with moronic discussions and topics and just get turned off. Maybe turned off to Prince!

I think it actually does a disservice to our favorite musician. He maybe losing potential fans!

Think about it!
