Prince's legacy In the future when Prince is long gone, how do you think future music historians will see his life and music?

Possibly as underachieving.
I'm firmly planted in denial

Probably much the same as it is now. Released a bunch of great albums in the 80s, went to shit in the 90s, had a bunch of great and not so great unreleased stuff, needed a bit of quality control and focus --> that's pretty much what they say about his work now, I doubt it will be any less condensed in the future.

"Prince... the greatest artist to shape the music of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He released unprecedented albums each year, was legendary for his B-sides, as well as the last person to receive an Academy Award for Best Motion Picture Score before the Academy changed the rules. The Minneapolis genius challenged WBR on the issue of ownership, enlightening millions about record company contracts, and probably the conduit to many artists in the late 90s opting to create their own record labels and release music strictly via the Internet."

i am a future music 'historian' and i say he IS music
everything about him is musical the way he dresses is musical even his personality querks r musical this is one thing i was always hoping he could understand about himself living fully in this world, is not about how many 'right' things u do vs. how many 'wrong' things u do.. its about timing his timing in all things is impeccable when to hit and run when to stay when to get defensive when to relax music is more than a bunch of notes put together or how many instruments u play or how well u sing...i mean sure thats part of it but a true musician lives a musical lifestyle, and far as i can see, he does that musicality of spirit is above religion because it is free of constraint God created us to be free, to discover our intuitive ability to know what to do at the right time, always in reverence to the Highest Good for all while p might not always see the much bigger picture, he has done well to navigate through his own life, and the lives of his appreciators...reflecting and projecting the Divine Human Heart. p.x " the embassy shut to keep the fools out " - as above, so below.

Hopefully none of the music historians will have anything to do with Warner Brothers.
