Prince - All the cover versions??? Does anyone have a complete list of Prince Songs covered by other artists?
I just heard Simple Minds do 'Sign Of The Times' (not too bad surprislingly) The brilliant D'angelo do 'She's Always In My Hair' What others are worth chasing up? yep I also found U2 do a live version of The Cross.
It was only when I heard it that I realised how well Prince sings it because it sounds like quite a difficult song. Darling Nikki covered by the Foo Fighters is similar. Shut up already, damn. | |

i seem to remember seeing a list that was in the 100s like 10 years ago. remember no one has to ask or be granted permission to do any cover. (but many big labels will MAKE them get it before releasing a cover) | |

Good site! What makes me a little sad is that most covers are by poppish or weak artists. Ok, great guys covered him, like Miles and Joshua Redman, but it´s not like Jimi or Beatles, that were covered by lots of great musicians. I wish more jazz artists covered him, for example. I would like to see one of his songs in the Real Book, just like Stevie Wonder... |
