Cleaning Instructions for Matt

Dear Matt,

I hope you are rested from your vacation/strike... you'll need the energy.

Listen, man... I tried. I told em "y'all gonna be sorry when Matt gets back!"... but they wouldn't listen. Somehow, after two years of model posting, I have no autHority around here. Or is it "credibility"? In any case, I did my best...WB and Icenine were too chicken to say anything. Now all I can do is provide instructions to make your life easier. Here goes.

1- Move all topics of the first 4 pages of the Prince forum to the GD forum (be sure to reopen it first)

2- Find all the threads with the word Prince in their titles and move them back to the Prince forum.

3. Erase all of LittlePill's threads.

You should be left with no more than a dozen threads to lock or delete.

Hope that helps.wink

For a while people were at least making an effort to stay on each forum's relevant topic but now it just seems a crazy free for all.

Maybe this site should be moderated and ran by those who can give time to it...

maybe yes.

on the other hand, maybe some people on this site need to grow up some more so Ben and Matt wouldn't need to be so "opprressive" to them in the first place.
I think things would be a lot easier and more fun if that would be the case.
You are not my "friend" because you threaten my security.

Trying to say? I think I succeeded in saying new moderators/owners would be a good move. smile

Individuals that'd delete any suspicious multiple IDs or those clearly to inflame for example...

This would leave less space for silliness from the members you speak of Abrazo.

Well... I don't think that ownership of the site is the core issue here. As far as it concerns ben, i think that he has always maintained a policy of as much freedom of speech as possible, partly because people have their own responsibilities when they post and partly because Ben himself has a job and practically made it a second job over the years in providing this site for free. That shouldn't lay so much responsibility on him as the owner.

A situation like this is much more a matter of the people posting here and especially the content of their postings.
Some like to rile up others and gett off when they succeed. this is not only a matter of screennames. it is also a matter of simple respectfull conduct against fellow orgers.
Moderating by deleting posts is a hopeless job if you are dealing with many hundreds of posters.

It's the people visiting this site who need to start taking responsibility for their actions. in other words: grow up a bit more, so there wouldn't be so many tensions and nonsense topics floading this place.

Well like you just said the moderator's are too busy to give this site attention. At least get a new moderator in.

Ian Kiigan was willing and scheduled to join up as moderator but nobody even got back to him on it so he's just given up.

His being in Europe means the boards would have been supervised during different timezone's daylight hours also...

Bite your tongue, it's not the people who post BS that are at fault. Oh heavens no...

there are simply a lot of 'logistical' problems involved with moderating, as well as 'objectivity' problems. Matt couldn't do many things right when he tried to clean the forums up from time to time. Everytime he did lock a thread, there were always people complaining about him not being objective enough.
I don't see how that will change with more or other moderators.

It is either the people themselves who need to start to think before they post... the site has to one day radically change what it provides. Which could mean no more open discussion forums.

Personally i would hate to see the forums go away, because besides all the crap they still provide the opportunity for healthy debate aboput important matters and I still see those happening.
Together with the orgnote feature that helps create relationships here at the org.

But if some people can't take their responsibility to keep this place at least a bit normal and acceptable to most, then I am afraid one day the forums will be no more... or have been reduced to only a news forum like on the old org.
