Some song that is always seems to be overlooked in here is Hot Thing from Sign of the Times, but the way Eric Leeds' first saxophone solo 'kicks in' during that song is brilliant: full-spirited and full of energy!

Another favorite: those horn-riffs on the Morning Papers, subdued, very beautifull sounding.

Last but not least: those solo's on the live video of America, especially that of Eddie M, a pure blast of energy!

(I know i could have bundles these choices, but well...hey... lol)

Eric Leeds. All the way.

That man's phrasing is so crazy, so acrobatic, so demented at times... Gosh, I just love when Eric is playing on a Prince project. He just plays better. I have his solo albums, I know how talented he is as an instrumentalist and writer. Be that as it may, he shines when working with Prince.

Maceo's gonna be funky no matter where he's playing. And, Prince obviously idolizes Maceo and his place in music history. No problem.

But, I think Eric is Prince's best sax player. His musical center of gravity complements Prince's incomparably.
