Remember the rumors of movies Prince was gonna do?

The Robert Johnson Story-biopic based on the legendary blues guitarist.

Camille-basically a Prince(or Prince-like character)vs his musical rival Camille. The end of the movie was to be somewhat simular to Fight Club.

I seem to recall there was one or two others mentioned. I think a different version than the released Graffiti Bridge was one of them. Does anybody remember what else?

There was a a series of Prince bootlegs from the early 90s called "Blue" and "Yellow". Inside the cover booklets, they had fake movie posters for two fictional films Prince was supposedly in, one called Blue and one called Yellow. It had the actors and producers and stuff listed along the bottom just like a real movie poster.

Yep. The original with Camille and Ruthie Washington, the planned follow-up to SOTT.

And don't forget 'The Second Coming'.

There was a small article in Rolling Stone around 1989 or early 1990 that mentioned Prince and Albert Magnoli were busy working on at least 3 movies together, not including Graffiti Bridge. I suppose when GB bombed, all those projects got scrapped.

The CDs themsevles were just a bunch of random outtakes like 51 hours, I Hear Your Voice, We Can Funk, the acoustic version of Kiss, etc... unfortunately, my copies are buried away in a stack of stuff I left at my folks place, I don't have them with me to post the tracklists.

I can remember this as early as 1988. Prince was said to have agreed to it and then nothing else was heard.

He expressed interest in playing Little Richard too if I'm not mistaken.

Actually, Little Richard expressed interest in Prince playing Little Richard. It was for a tv-movie. The actor who ultimately got the job was a sad choice, imho.

Actually, Prince said it himself. And in a 1985 interview, he mentioned a movie he'd been wanting to do since the Dirty Mind tour. Perhaps this was the same movie? And maybe all of this was connected to The Dawn as well.

wow, i remember that too... tho i figured it was either some kind of riddle released by Prince's publicists or a mistake because of the word "Prince" in the title. Who knows... maybe it was an early version of Under the Cherry Moon ...or maybe it was the Dirty Mind era movie that Prince had in mind to release -- he did say it had something to do with a spiritual revelation during a time when he was doing some "dark" stuff?

I remember that too from years ago but if I remember right, a few years ago after being asked if he wanted to do anymore movies, Prince said no to an original story but maybe to a LR film.

Odd title - maybe a mis-understanding of UTCM?

Morning Star = Venus/Lucifer = Prince of Darkness

Prince & Al Magnoli own the rights to "The Robert Johnson Story".
Prince was going to star as Robert Johnson in this film.
it was supposed to happen in 1989/1990.
this film never materialized beyond a rough draft.
wink
THINK!.....it's NOT illegal yet...
